Louis wires directly. He also stated that the company would supply seats for fifty reporters which they would have present, and he therefore desired the privilege of using six messengers to cross the rostrum to receive sxges, which would be placed in a tube ading outside of the railing. He hoped to be able to get most of the news having to go inside tbe railing at all, but i the special privilege Was desirable in order to facilitate matters. I His request was granted Mr. McAdam lien read a letter from the City Council, asking for tickets of adriii sion to the National Convention.

The application was, af er debate, referred to the National Committee. The chairman thought that tb Resident Committee had no right to, grand tickets, but that it would be proper to recommend that tickets be furnished the numbers of tbe City Council, Judges ol the County and Circuit Courts, but that seat-should not be specified. The matter was finally laid aver ustil next Thursday, and an order was adopted that a request as made to the national coMsaiirrKB For a number of tickets to be distributed by the Resident Committee. Col. Slayhack suggested that the Democratic County Committee be provided with tickets, in reply to which the chairm in stated that tbe suggestion would be taken into consideration.

Hannah Fox filed a petition in the Circuit Court, this afternoon, praying for damagea against the city of St. Louis in the sum of $5,500. Her grievance consists in the tearing up of Twelfth street ami the construction of tbe Twelfth street bridge, near which were two of plaintifPs houses, which were dsmsged as she claims, and have remained idle ever since tbe tearing up of said street commenced. Celsus Price, superintendent of the Insurance Department of Missouri, filed a petition In the Circuit Court to-day, to restrain tbe Mercantile Insurance Company Iroui doing further business; and also asks that a receiver be appointed for said company, to wind up its business, the company being insolvent.

He was with a party of convivial friends on the down trip, and drank with some of his acquaintances on the return, but after the boat passed Carondelet he was not seen. The Phoenix Club, a Democratic organization, presented a petition to the County Court this morning, praying for the privilege of attaching a rope to the east gaft nd of the Court-house, to be extended to building on the opposite side of Fourth street, for the purpose of supporting a fl ig, to be kept flying over said street at the time of the National Convention, and at all such times as the) may deem proper during the presidential campaign. Tickets have been issued ta a large number of prominent citizens, and a grand time is anticipated. An Ancient Skull. Some of the laborers engaged in ex ctva-ting for the foundation of a new building on Fifth street, adjoining Daniel W. Bell's store, dug up a skull, the top of which was perforated in two places, apparently bullets or some instrument. It was discovered at a depth of nearly twelve feet, and although the ground has all been made, the old building just torn down has occupied the site for the past tbirtv years.

The inquiry is, whose skull? No other bones were found.
