WhDe strolling through the 42-acne landscaped grounds of the estate west of Indianapolis, families may tour the mansion to view paintings and other furnishings or hear concerts by jaa artist, Al Hirt and his band, and the Indianapolis Symphony orchestra ensemble. One-act plays also will be presented by the Booth Tarkington Civic theater of Indianapolis. Art exhibits from New York City, Chicago and Baltimore, in addition to displays from Indianapolis galleries, will be displayed on the grounds of Old-fields and all will be available for purchase. The art display will be an expanded and similar version of the Young Collectors' exhibit sponsored annually by the John Herron. Food and drinks will be avail-able at concession booths through the grounds, and booths also maintained by the symphony, Art Association of Indianapolis, Indianapolis Children's museum and Civic theater.

A demonstration in theatrical makeup will be given by members of the Civic theater, and the Heiken Marionettes will second concert at 4 p.m. followed by Hirt at 5 p.m. The Civic theater will close0 the entertainment at 6 p.m. with its final" 1-act play. More than 1,000 paintings, etchings and sketches will be displayed and works, will range in price from $5 to $5,000.

Among the galleries exhibiting will be Roten of Baltimore, Alan Frumkin of Chicago and New York City and the Kennedy, Walter Schatzki and Lu-cien Goldschmidt galleries, all of New York City. The arts fair is sponsored by the Penrod society, a group of men between the ages of 25 and, 40, formed to further the arts in Central Indiana. The first "An Afternoon at Oldfields" drew more than 4,000 people last year. Price of admission to the fair is $10 a family, or $5 per person. Checks are to be made payable to the Penrod Society and mailed to the Art Association of Indianapolis, 110 East Sixteenth street, Indianapolis, Ind.

46202. Proceeds from the fair go to the Art association. Mail orders received by Sept. 4 will be processed and tickets mailed to purchasers. Orders received after that time Sept.

4 will be held at the gate where persons may pick them up. Tickets may also be purchased at the gate. Parking will be provided at the Interchurch center directly east of the entrance to Old-fields at the corner of Michigan road and Forty-second street. Parking will also be available at Hinkle fieldhouse, Forty-ninth street and Boulevard place. Free bus transportation will be provided from Hinkle fieldhouse to Oldfields.

No cars will be allowed within the grounds of the estate. Tours of the multi-million dollar museum complex now under construction will also be given during the arts fair.
