Can you help? The holidays are approaching and for most of us that means we are thinking of who we will be shopping for and wishing and hop ing ab out what will be unde the tree for us. But we are the fortunate ones who have the luxury of not worrying abo ut where our next meal will come from, where we will sleep tonight, where we will get clothing, or where we can go to the bathroom or take a shower.

Those that are not so fortunate are the homeless, and these individuals and families, some for the first time, face the holidays knowing that they will be without shelter, food, family and gifts. PPADS is currently providing an overwhelming number of basic needs services, showers, laundry, bathroom, telephone, transportation, and clothing. They make end- less referrals to emergency, transitional and permanent housing; to treatment, and medical care and see the numbers of those in need rising each day Could you make it a little better for those without family or a home? If you, or someone you know, can provide winter coats, warm gloves, shoes, sweatshirts or sweat- pants, or even some time to help over the holidays, call Ext 107. Volunteers needed: Any individual who is interested in donating their time or other resources to Queen of Peace or any of PADS' other 17 homeless shelters is asked to call (847) 689-4357, Ext. 103.
