April 0. Although wheat prices lumped to new high recbrda today, the market was characterised extreme fllghtlness rather than streugth. Sentiment maa so uncertain an.t nenous thai fluctuations at one time showed a range of nearly 6c within as many minutes. Trading though evidently curtailed by calls for big margins, waa of considerable volume and there were periods of extraordinary intensity. Advances lr value apparently were baaed In the main on fresh r.

porta of unpromlatng crop conditions Kansas and Nebraska. Opening price, which ranged from IVc off to Se up. with 61ay at 2.1S to $2 12. and July at S1.N7 to Sl.fcbS. 'ere followed by a swift general upturn to S2.13 Slay and for July, and then a sudden setback followed by a succession of wild change inside the limits named Corn proved more erratic than wheat.

I n-usual scarcity of offering, however, gave the market for the moat part a tendency to minlne unchanged t' 1 h.igher. prices In some case showed Jump of nearly 3c above Saturday's finish. Data were fairly active, but were weak sa com- pared ith other cereal. There waa mucn aelllng by acattererl holders. New high prlta for the season were attained by provtuion.

Louis Chicago 7S Chicago Chicago 5S4 694 Local wheat futures were nervous and Irregular today and after advancing rather sharply at the opening the May option reacted to about Saturday's close, then cold 2Vc over, while July averaged 2c to 2c higher. The strength in July resulted from continued dry weather over the Southwestern winter wheat belt, where the crop damage has been 1 sensational. Talk of Government control of priced failed to excite selling, as the nhort supplies and bad crop prospects seem to assure high prices while the war lasts. In the alte market lower heavy offerings from influential traders swept the market down violently and May wheat, after selling 8c over Saturday's close, lost all the advance. The July option sold 4c under that level.

The close was wild at that level. Corn futures were strong and established new high records at levels to 3c over Saturday's close. Small receipts, urgent cash and domestic demands and light country offers made the market. Oats were ac higher. In sympathy with corn.

Corn closed Jo to uc under Saturday's level. Oats lost lV4c. Wheat shipments from United States to United Kingdom last week according to lirooinnall. above requirements and with the economy now being practiced in the use of nhest. stocks there are net easing.
