Jaggers: used Kentucky winning 1 See VIEWS on BIO BY LARRY VAUGHT was a war because we were going against one of the best defensive lineman in the Jaggers said I think our overall size and strength took over We kind of put it to them have any real big runs a lot of 3 and 4 yard plays like we did at Danville but those can add What may have added up even more for Kentucky were the physical workouts that head coach Joe Ruddell of Tates Creek put the team through last week the way all star assistant coach Donald Smith the for mer Harrodsburg coach now at Lafayette remembered Tom Duffy doing it when he played for the 1985 Kentucky stars that Duffy guided to a 24 0 win over Tennessee Duffy worked us hard all that Smith said we were ready to play Since Duffy had two of our three wins over Tennessee I told Joe that he must have done something Jaggers said the team worked in full gear Thursday morning SECTION wwwamnewscom wwwgolfkycom LEXINGTON Josh Jaggers resist taking one last look at the scoreboard as he left Commonwealth Stadium just hope Kentucky fans can get used to this It would be a new thing for said the offensive lineman from Danville after he helped Kentucky beat Tennessee 24 6 riday in the annual high school all star football game Jaggers hope that success carries over to the University of Kentucky where be playing his college football want to sound big but I think we can beat Tennessee (at Jaggers said hope we get used to wins like Kentucky At any level This was only fourth win since the all star series was started in 1984 The University of Kentucky has lost 15 straight times to the Volunteers and unlike the high school all star games most have not been close or a change Kentucky was the dominant team in game Normally Tennessee has been bigger stronger and faster This time Tennessee may have been as big but Kentucky was stronger and far more physical SUNDAY JUNE 25 2000 Vaught's views About the only thing Ten nessee did better than Kentucky was talk even when the score was 24 0 Not that Jaggers and UK signees like Matt I luff of Louisville and Jeremy Caudill of Prestonsburg do a little verbal jousting of their own told them to get used to it (the Jaggers who was honored as the senior in football during a halftime ceremony said were doing most of the talking and like it when we brought up the score We had a good time especially listening to them after we got them Jaggers started at left tackle Huff and Daniel Burnett of Dun bar another UK signee were also in the line and more than off set the defensive line of Tennessee that was led by 315 pound Alabama signee Albert Means th Williams keeps committment to Garrard kids By MIKE MARSEE Staff Writer LANCASTER Moe Williams was close to calling the whole thing off The former By LARRY VAUGHT Sports Editor Two months after ending his football career at Ohio State Julius Yeast has decided to play again at Eastern Ken tucky The former Harrodsburg all state defensive lineman is tak ing summer classes at Lexing ton Community College and plans to join the Colonels for preseason practice in August Because transferring to a Division I AA program be eligible to play immediately and will have three years of eli gibility left reason I chose Eastern is because it is close to said Yeast riday want to have to sit out a year either Eastern Kentucky is just a better fit for me than anywhere Yeast picked Ohio State over Tennessee and Kentucky in 1998 He was redshirted in 1998 and played sparingly in 1999 He was moved to tight end during spring practice but left the Buckeyes before spring practice ended for reasons that had nothing to do with football just wanted to be closer to my Yeast who has 1 year old twins in Lexington said want to spend more time with them and I do that at Ohio State made my decision more for my family than football I went to Ohio State because I thought that was the best way to get to the NL But I can do the same thing at Another former Harrods burg player Jason Dunn went to Eastern was drafted and played for the Philadelphia Eagles Yeast who has maintained his 265 pound playing weight said playing time was difficult to get at Ohio State Ohio State you have a lot of athletes at every posi Yeast said to Ohio State was not a mistake for me It was a good experience learned the dividends of hard work I saw what a great work ethic it takes to succeed probably the biggest thing I Yeast believes he can con tribute immediately to East defensive line based on what he was told told me they had one other player they were high on at end and had a tackle trans ferring from Ball Yeast said need me to come in and make plays something I think I can do the main thing is for me to get my education I want to major in education and one day be a football coach To do that I need that degree in case it work out making the NL and there are no guaran tees about doing that Going to Eastern will let me play foot ball but it wall also let me be near my kids and get my edu cation the big.
