television repair man is not the only one delivering services to the home anymore Jerry Houck owner of Lifestyles Personal itness and Diet Center will soon be going into the homes of his elderly customers to bring them an individualized exer cise and diet program that will take into consideration any health problems they may have will show people how they can incorporate exercise and a healthy diet into their daily routine in their own Houck said Once in the home Houck inspects the equipment provid ed by the customer to make sure it is suitable to meet the physical needs He also monitors heart rate dur ing the workout Houck started the business as a result of seeing how simi lar programs could be success ful in helping people live a more active lifestyle The result: they do not spend as much time at the doctor Passion for preventive care Another factor that inspired Lifestyles was Margaret Keightley who works with Houck met Margaret at her Lexington Dietworks office and developed a passion for pre ventive health care from watching her Houck said The background of the two came together to make a Houck has a business administration degree from Berea College During college he worked in a hospital admin istration office under the direc tor of nursing After college Houck coordi nated programs at the Danville Senior Citizens Center always pushed a corporate life in business But as I reflected on my past I always had an interest in and worked in health Houck said Keightley has 25 years of medical experience as an emergency medical technician and licensed practical nurse In 1987 Keightley trained with Covert Bailey nationally known for making body fat percentages a main part of his diet program She was certi fied in Reno Nev to teach theory Keightley originally operat ed a diet program in Harrodsburg but later moved to Lexington where she owned a Dietworks office in Zandale Center on Nicholasville Road Not limited to in home consulting Lifestyles does not limit itself to in home consultations however Appointments can also be made for one on one or group consultations even be glad to make programs available to civic Keightley said The front of
