Crutchfield, 1858 Mable, died at 1:22 p.m- Friday in McCuistion Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Fry Gibbs Funeral Home Chanel with the Rev. Jerry Moore, the Rev- Richard Harris and the Rev. James Elsom offciating.

Burial will be in Georgia Cemetery. The former Miss Ola Stephens, Airs: Crutchfield was; a daughter of William Russell and Adeline (Thomas) Stephens. She married MrCrutchfield on Oct. 4, 1908 in the lived Georgia community and they there until the past! four years ago when they moved to Paris. She is survived by her husband; seven sons.

Judge Lester Crutchfield of Paris, Deward and Vester Crutchfield, both of Maxey, Lloyd and G. C. Crutchfield both of Encinitias, R. V. Crutchfield of San Tee, and four Leroy daughters, Mrs.

of Olela Floyda Deck- da; I Crutchfield er and Mrs. Clara Jones, both of Paris, Mrs- Willie Ball of Direct and Mrs. Cristell Mahan of Stinnett- Also surviving are two Floyd and Hersheli Stephens, both of the Georgia community; 31 grandchildren; 27-g re a children and seven great-g-reat-grandchildren. W. Walker Ed W.

Walker, 94, of 1623 S. Church died at 8:29 p.m. Saturday, at his home. He was born March 15, 1880, at Spring Place, Mr. Walker was the son of West Walker and the former Elizabeth Ann Farmer.

He was a retired employe of the Texas and Pacific and Texas and Mount Pleasant Railroad, having served 50 years as an cngineer- He had been a member of: the First Baptist Church in Bonham, since 1901. was a member of the Odd Lodge and was a 50- year member of the Brotherhood of. Locomotive Firemen and Engineers. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Myrtle Pierce of Paris, whom he made his home; several great-great-nieces and nephews and one cousin, Mrs.

Will Kammer of Paris. Arrangements are pending with Leverett and Steele Funeral Home- Harrison Services services for Mrs. W. (Medie) Harrison, 1358 Bonham, were conducted; Saturday afternoon in Leverett and Steele Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Othoe Stegall officiating.

Burial was made in Meadowbrock Cemetery. Harrison died Thursday in the Tyler Medical Center. She was born Oct. 23, 1893, in Lamar County, a daughter of B. H.

and Betty Jean (Williams) Williams. She married Mr. Harrison on March 29, 1914. in Telephone. He died I I March 1, 1960.

She was a member of the Church of God. Mrs. Harrison is survived by a son, Kenneth D. Harrison of Wink; three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Lucille) McQueen of Maxey, Mrs.

M. G. (Helen) Alvord of Lindale and Mrs. J. T.

(Revel) Martin of Nashville, a sister, Mrs. J. R. (Bessie) McFatridge of Paris; 11 grandchildren, and 12 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ernest Johnston, Emory Neal, Cleo Reeves, Thomas Nixon, Joe Blackshear and Judge Coker.

Bean Services Bean Services Funeral services for wellknown Paris educator Frank Clifton Bean, 70, were held Saturday afternoon at Fry Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Bean, 70, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Hospital.

He had served as teacher, college instructor, principal and school superintendent before his retirment in 1972. Pallbearers were Louis Williams, Cecil Everett, Dee I Cunningham, Wilson Norris, Paul- Daniels and Ralph Webb. Honorary pallbearers were members of Mr. Bean's Sunday school class at Oak Park United Methodist Church. Terry Thomas Sr.

Terry Wilbert Thomas Sr. of 500 E. Bonham Cooper, died Thursday at home. He was born in Lamar County the son of John Thomas and Mrs. Anna Morgan Thomas.

Sunday in New Zion Baptist The funeral will be at a 2 p.m. Church, Cooper. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery by Ferguson Funeral Home He is survived by his wife Mrs. Delia Thomas, Cooper, and these children: Joe L. Thomas, Midland; Mrs.

Patricia Gloster, Richardson and John W. Thomas, Leroy Thomas, Truman L. Thomas, Carlton Thomas, Gill I- Thomas. and Mrs. Sandra Thompson, all of Los Angeles, Calif.

Other survivors include 12 grandchildren, six sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Bessie Rucker, Guthrie, Mrs. Maude Wallace, Mrs. Johnnie West. Mrs.

Effie Taylor News Bureau BOSWELL, Okla. Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Mae Taylor, 85, a resident of Boswell 15 years and of Choctaw County for 55 years, were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Jesus Name Holiness Church here with the Rev. He was born June 30, 1904 in Clarksville, Tex. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a retired carpenter. He resided in Haworth for 66 years. He is survived by four sons, Joe W.

Hill of Grand Prairie, James Hill of Broken Bow; Billy Wayne Hill and Larry Ray Hill, both of Haworth, 11 grandchildren and one grandchild. W. A. Fly News Bureau HUGO, Okla. Committal services for W.

A. (Bill) Fly of Lockesburg, a former principal and teacher in the Hugo public school system were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo. Evart Pickartz, Jackson Street Church of Christ minister here, officiated.

Burial was made by Lampton-Mills Funeral Home. Services for Mr. Fly were held in Oklahoma City Friday morning after which the body will be at Lampt -Mills Funeral Home from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Fly died Thursday morning in Deaconess Hospital, I Oklahoma City of a stroke which followed surgery. He was born Feb. 19, 1894 near DeQueen, a son of Mr. and Mrs.

A. B. Fly. He educated at Southwestern State College in Durant and did graduate work at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. Survivors are his wife, Mrs.

Faye Fly; two sons and a daughter, James A. Fly amd Mrs. Tommy Joe Walker, both oi Oklahoma City and Billy Walker, Del City; 14 other descendents also survive with these brothers and sisters. Dr. Claude L.

Fly of Fort Collins, Fritz of Albuquerque, N.M-; Dave Fly of Houston; Harold (Doc) Fly of Chickasha; Mrs. Valera Aud of Oklahoma City; and Mrs. Alice Seyfer of Rogue River, Ore. Mr. Fly was an agriculture teacher in the Hugo school system before serving as principal of the junior high school and later Hugo High School.

Mrs. Roebuck Oklahoma News Bureau ANTLERS, Okla. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday for Mrs. Elizabeth Roebuck, Rt.

1, Antlers, who died at 10:45 pm. Thursday in the Pushmataha County Hospital. Rev. H. L.

Morrison, pastor of the God Church, officiated and Mills Funeral Home made burial in City Cemetery. Mrs. Roebuck was born March 20, 1891 in Antlers and had lived there all of her life. Seven sons and daughters and 68 other descendants also survive. The former are Mrs.

Vivian Holton, Mrs. Viola Fromme, Mrs. Georgia Mae Mrs- Elizabeth Carter, all of Antlers, Mrs. Ringwald of Finley, Jessie Roebuck, Burkburnett, and Mrs. Geneva Carr of Albany, Ore.

A surviving halfsister, is Mrs. Lucille Parks of Antlers. Solomon Homer Oklahoma News Bureau Okla. Solomon Homer, 74-year-old Hugo resident for many years, died at his home at mid-afternoon Thursday of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services were held Saturday in Coffey Funeral Home Chap el.

The Rev. Frank Smith, pastor of the Church of God, officiating. Burial was mad ein Spring Chapel Cemetery, where Mr. Homer was employed as caretaker and gravedigger. The family is at the home of his son, Billy Homer, 309 S.

6th StMr. Homer, whose wife died approximately eight months ago, recently told friends that in his years of cemetery work he had hand dug in excess of 1,000 graves. He is survived by nine sons and daughters, 22 grandchildren The and four former great-grandchildren. are his son Billy in Hugo; Mrs. Jo Wagner and Mrs.

Guinda Hinton of Sulphur Springs; Gene Homer of Dallas; Horace Homer of Allen, Mrs. Louise Shellhammer, Wichita Falls; Mrs. Edna Campbell of Garland: Mrs. Frances Gilbreath of Seagoville: and Mrs. Zada Farley of McKinney.

Mrs. Ethel Cathey Bob Peek CLARKSVILLE Funeral services 'for Mrs. Ethel Lee Cathey of Rt. 2, Avery, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Avery Missionary Baptist Church.

The Rev. Wayland Boyd will officiate, with burial in the Avery Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Mrs. Cathey died Friday in Red River County Hospital She was born in Avery Jan. 19, 1905, the daughter of Mr.

William Benjamin and Dora Lee (White) Megason, and was a member of the Avery Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors are her husband, Ray Cathey of Avery; one son, James Harold Bullard of Avery) one daughter, Mrs. Jana Kaye Hail of Lewisville; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Goldman of Avery; five brother, Urial Megason of Hobbs, N.MY., James Megason of El Paso, Peter Megason of Hooks, Carl Megason of DeKalb and Buel Megason of Jasper; three grandchildren. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Bob Peek BOXELDER-Funeral services for Bob Peek of Boxelder and a life-long resident of Red River County will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in the Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home, with burial in the Boxelder Cemetery. The Rev. Delton Smith, assisted by the Rev: Claude Martin, will officiate. Mr.

Peek died Friday in the Red River County HospitalHe was born. in Lydia Jan. 20, 1883, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Peek.

He married the former Miss: Nora Morgan in Arkansas Aug. 10; 1914 and was a member of the Methodist church. Survivors are his widow, MrsBob Peek of Boxelder; one son, Powell Peek of Mount Vernon; one foster son, Paul D. Peek of Saratoga; one daughter. Mrs.

Fred Bankhead of Weatherford; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. GED Testing Set Saturday Adults can earn their high school diplomas through the General Education Development (GED) test battery, to be given at 8 a.m. next Saturday in the cafeteria of the McLemore Student Center at Paris Junior College. Ken Dailey, counselor, will administer the test battery to persons unable to come regular Wednesday testing sessions or those who prefer taking the test on Saturday. Successful completion of the GED leads to issuance of a high school equivalency diploma from the State Department of Education Testing fee is $7.50 and may be paid on the testing date.

No appointment is necessary. According to the counselor, approximately 70 per. cent of those who take the test complete it successfully. Persons not completing the test battery the first time may retake it at no extra cost after a waiting period. Average age of persons taking the GED is 30, Dailey said.

Minimum age in Texas for taking the test battery is 17. Students 17 or 18 years of age must bring letters from their high school principals stating the last date they attended school. Oklahoma residents should receive permission from their school superintendent before taking the GED. Further information obtained by calling Dailey may at be the college, 784-6601. ext.

Judging in the two-day show finished up Friday morning, followed by a sale of steers, barrows and lambs. The Good Housekeeping Award for the entire show went to the Lamar County 4-H Dairy Club. Reserve. champion beef cow was shown by David of Prairiland and the reserve champion beef bull by Sherry Cannada of Lamar County 4-H. Showmanship award in the breeding cattle division went to Craig Keenum of Roxton FFA.

The grand champion dairy cow, Lamar was shown County by 4-H, Tina with Ivy reserve champion shown by Donald Gribble of Prairiland FFA. Grand champion dairy bull was shown by Ricky McFadden of Delmar and reserve champion by Jackie Preston. Gribble took the showmanship award. Cooper Senior Places in State UIL Writing AUSTIN-Miss Tahlia Lancaster, Cooper High senior, took second place in Class A editorial writing in the University Interscholastic League state meet in Austin Saturday. Miss Lancaster is daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Harold Lloyd Lancaster. Another Cooper senior, Beverly Burrow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.

C- Burrow, placed fifth in spelling. And a Ladonia girl, Tina Shaw of Fannindel, came in fourth in spelling. Hugoan Hurt 'In Shooting News Bureau HUGO, Okla. Charles Bradley, about 34, of Hugo, I suffered apparently critical gunshot wounds in the chest and upper stomach in a shooting about 5 p.m. Saturday in Little, Pearl's tavern on West Main Street.

After emergency care at Memorial Hospital here, he was transferred by ambulance to Paris' McCuistion Medical Center, available unofficial information indicating he was in critical condition. City police said they took into custody another Hugo man, age about 36, and that they also had the 12-gauge shotgun believed to have been used in the shooting. Investigation was incomplete at press time. Tour Talk West Lamar Seniors will present their senior class play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the West Lamar School gym.

The play, "Aunt Tillie Goes. to will cost $1 for adults and 50 cents for children. The Paris Tennis Association will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Vocational Building Room 1 next to the gym at Paris High School. Officers and tournament director for 1974 will be elected.

The Department of Public Works has announced the trash pick-up schedule for this week: Monday, Zone Tuesday, Zone Wednesday, Zone Thursday, Zone and Friday Zone 5. Landfill hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Nears of GN ANCHORAGE, Alaska Air Force Sergeant To mie P. Runnels, son of Mrs- Mildred E. Todd of 105 Church Ladonia, has arrived for duty at Elemendorf AFB, Alaska. Sergeant Runnels, a fuel systems repairman with a unit of the Alaskan Air Command, previously served at Carswell AFB, Tex- He has completed a year of duty in Vietnam.

Runnels, resides in Red Oak: Felony Charges Filed in Green Stamp Larceny Oklahoma News Service HUGO, Felony charges of grand larceny in.volving the alleged theft of $800 worth of Green Stamps were filed Friday by the district attorney's office against James Tedder, 132 Meadowview in Hugo. Information alleges that the stamps were stolen March 30 fro Ford Thrif-T-Wise Grocery. According 10 the district attorney's office, the theft was not discovered until recently.

PHS Student, Teacher Sent To Symposium Cemetery at Boswell. Mrs. Taylor died Wednesday in McCuistion Medical Center. Born April 3, 1889 in Oklahoma Territory, Effie Mae (Spencer) Taylor was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness church in Boswell. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs.

Leona McGarry and Mrs. Dee Fuler, both of Boswell; one son, Dee Taylor, of Wilburton; 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, one brother and four sisters. They latter are Edgar Spencer, of Calumet; Mrs. Myrtle Carruth, Stockton, Mrs. Mary Lunsford, Atoka; Mrs.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Hollis Gerald Moore and Hulen Moore, both of Bogata and Dadie J. Moore of Sand Springs, and Donnie Ray Moore of Terrell; five daughters, Mrs.

Evelyn Eudy and Mrs. Barbara Freeman of Bogata, Mrs. Jane Belcher of Houston and Mrs. Carolyn McIntosh and Mfrs- Marilyn Naas, both of Tulsa, three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Provins and Mrs.

Born in Denison Memorial Hospital, Denison, April 23, the baby died there at 5 a.m. Thursday. In addition to her father and mother, the former Miss Mary Gordon, of Durant, the baby is survived by these grandparents: Mr. and Mrs.

Lucien Spear, of Hugo, Dr. and Mrs. Thurmond George, San Jose, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Nation, of Durant.

Mrs. Lorena Roddy, Ft. Worth, is a maternal great grandmother. Hinson Services BOGATA Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday for Mrs.

Louella Lucille Hinson, 45, of Rt. 1, Bogata, who died suddenly at her residence Thursday morning. Officiating were the Bond and the Rev. Calvin. Hancock at the Johntown Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial was in Smith Cemetery in Rosalie. She was born Nov- 7. 1928 in Watonga, Okla. She has been a resident of Red River County for over 40 years. She married Rupert C.

Hinson April 1946 in Johntown. She was a member of the Johntown Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be at Philadelphia Cemetery under the direction of Nor- A Paris High School honor student and a teacher have been selected to attend a nuclear science symposium at the University of Texas at Austin June 3-6, District Manager Hardy England of Texas Power and Light Co. announced. The student selected is Fred Mussetter, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Jim Mussetter, 2390 Crescent and the teacher chosen is Ralph Rodgers. The symposium will be sponsored by the University of Texas and the Texas Atomic Energy Research Foundation. Student and teacher are being sponsored by The two attendees will join more than 550 other honor students and teachers from over the State of Texas. Ten investor-owned electric companies in Texas, including are members of. the Texas Atomic Energy Research Foundation.

The organization is supporting research at the University, seeking a future source of energy through control of nuclear fusion reactions. Couple Injured In Lamar Crash The Lamar County Sheriff's Office reported a major accident Saturday afternoon which sent a man and his wife to the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. William Fleming were reported in fair condition at St.

Joseph's Hospital after their pickup truck and anther pickup collided on U.S. 271 North at the Pat Mayse cutoff shortly before 3 p.m. Identity of the second driver and his passenger was unavailable at press time. Mrs. William (Marjorie) Merrill, of the Post Oak community, was injured Friday night when a gun went off accidentally.

The bullet struck her in the right arm andshoulder and also grazed her neck. She was treated and released at McCuistion Regional Biedical Center. The accident happened, sheriff's officers were told, when her husband and her son, Jeffrey, 7, laid a .22 caliber pistol on a trailer outside their home and the gun fell off the trailer and discharged. Ohio State had the best scoring defense last season, allowing only 43 points in ten games.
