Monuments to the Union and Confederate troops that fought during the Civil War battle at Perryville will be dedicated at 10 am Sunday at the state park outside Perryville The Civil War Society is dedicating the monuments as part of weekend seminar on the Civil War being held at Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill in Mercer County The monuments list the names of all the units involved in the Oct 8 1862 battle and the roles they played Kent Brown a Lexington attorney who is a Civil War scholar will dedicate the monuments Two Civil War re enactment groups will be at the dedication In Lincoln County Stanford heart chairman named STANORD Terri Ralston has been named residential chairman for the 1968 American Heart Association campaign in the Stanford area The campaign begins Sunday and will run through April 2 Ralston will coordinate the efforts of volunteers who will seek con tributions from people at their homes and distribute information on how heart association dollars are spent at the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville resulted in advances in diagnosis prevention surgery and rehabilita tion that have made our lives more Ralston said more needs to be done Heart Henry Hensley former Harrodsburg commissioner HARRODSBURG Henry Clay Hensley 74 of Moreland Avenue a retired merchant and former ci ty official died Tuesday at Humana Hospital Lexington Hensley served two terms on the Harrodsburg City Commission in the early 1960s acting as mayor pro tem for one term He owned and operated Harrodsburg ur niture Co for several years and was a former partner in the Ravenna Wholesale Grocery Co in Ravenna He also farmed in Mercer County He served in the Navy in World War II and was a member of Douglas Laws Post 52 American Legion a former state com mander of the American Legion and a member of Disabled American Veterans He graduated from Georgetown College where he had been a member of Lambda Chi Alpha social fraternity He was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church and had been an officer of its Glad Hand Sunday school class He also was a member of Harrodsburg Lions Club Mercer Masonic Lodge 777 Oleika Shrine Temple and the Masonic Scottish Rite He was a former member of Harrodsburg Kiwanis Club Born in Lee County on July 31 1913 he was the son of the late Harvey and Nellie Brown Hensley Survivors include his wife Rachel Earl Bennett Hensley a daughter Mrs David (Carrie Lou) armer of Danville three sons Harvey Bennett Hensley of airfield Iowa William Henry Hensley of Dallas and John Marion Hensley of Anchorage Alaska and five grandchildren The funeral will be held at 2 pm riday at Harrodsburg Baptist Church by the Rev Dr Robert Deoor and the Rev James Hensley Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery Active pallbearers will be James received in a fall from a ladder at his home on Tuesday Born in Danville he was the son of the late JT and Gertrude Noel Parks Sr He was a graduate of Georgetown College where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha social fraternity He was a salesman retired from Meyers store and a member of Central Christian Church Survivors include his wife Mar tha Gayle Parks a daughter Mrs Steve (Mary Noel) Schoen baechler of Nashville Tenn three sons Alexander Parks of Georgia Julian Thomas Parks III of Anchorage Alaska and James Parks of Lexington a brother Richard Parks of Lexingtonahd five In Marion County Trial set for ex mayor of Lebanon LOUISVILLE Ky (AP) A May 31 trial was scheduled for former Lebanon Mayor Hyleme George after he pleaded innocent to election fraud charges in US District Court A federal grand jury indicted George 75 last month on charges of paying 23 people about $5 each to cast absentee ballots through the mail for a candidate he supported in Marion 1985 Phelps 20 of Bethelridge Route 1 was charged with first degree burglary late Wednesday night by Trooper Ralph Mings and Casey Deputy Sheriff Hershel Price Price said Verlus Godbey had contacted the office Wednes day morning about two shotguns two rifles and a stereo that had been taken from his home over a period of several days Godbey had noticed the missing items on Wednesday Price said Phelps was placed in the Casey County Jail under a $2500 cash or pro perty bond 3 face drug charges HARRODSBURG Three women were arrested Tuesday and charg ed with possession of marijuana when police answered a complaint about a loud party at Harrods Creek Apartments on Perryville Road According to a police report Violet Hager of Apt 12 was arrested along with her sister Victoria Hager and Bertie Whalen both of Lexington All three were charged with possession of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a minor because children allegedly were present police said The two Lexington women are lodged today in the Boyle County Jail each under a $300 bond Violet Hager was released on bond During the investigation police also found a substance believed to be cocaine The substance is being
