L. Guernsey, one of the former officers, in the murder trial of the other four in Superior Court yesterday. The four former officers, Kay and Stanley Shockey, V. A. Walker and M.

S. Freasier, are being tried for first degree murder for the death of Joe Bustamente, an American citizen, and Mario Garcia, a Mexican citizen. Rudolph Velez, who wah -wounded, is a Nicaraguan. Manuel Payno, Mexican Consul here, is attending the trial. It was he who urged an Investigation which respited In the arrest of the five former officers.

Guernsey turned State's evidence. Guernsey told how he had arranged with Velez to rob the store. He furnished the three with liquor and a potent narcotic to "bolster their nerves," he said. "I took the three to the store in a police car," said Guernsey. 'When they had broken down the door, I signaled to the other officers, who were lying in wait nearby.

Freasier and his men came forward and commanded the three to come out. When they received no answer they entered the building and started firing." Velez, who preceded Gueri.sey on the stand, testified similarly about the robbery plotting and the slayings. Velez now is serving a prison term for burglary. ST.
