Ruby Keeler used to do it all the time. The whole thing is meant as jolly lampoon-but there isn't much mirth left in the blustering tycoon with a half dozen nephews for vice presidents, even when the role is played by Lou JacobL Other featured performers are Tina Louis, Dick Patterson and Tiger Haynes. Styne, the busiest tune-smith of the season with "Funny Girl" across the street and "Wonder World" at the World's Fair has come up with a score of mostly routine caliber. The first act finale for Miss Burnett, however, is a syncopated swinger. Two dance spectacles are provided by Ernest Flatt, a flashy violin sequence, and a lavishly costumed dream routine.

"Fade Out-Fade In" classes as splashy, brash formula entertainment. Except for Miss Burnett, who is someone very special. OS 1-3221 empire ESSTCE Ml S-72 OridHl scottsvillc to. As an ugly duckling on the loose in Hollywood of the 1930's, she is a wonder to behold gracefully gawky, clumsily sly, vocally terrific.

Helping out in the plus column is Jack Cassidy, the foil of much of Miss Burnett's rampage, and who all alone can whip up quite a storm with a song. But, darn that hoary plot upon which composer Jule Styne, author lyricists Betty Comden and Adolphx Green, and director George Abbott have concentrated so much energy. BradleytoQuit Boxoffice Job James 0. Bradley, box-office manager at the Community Playhouse for the last five years, announced yesterday he will go into merchandising accounting when he leaves the theater June 15. Bradley, a choir director, singer, actor, bookkeeper and "caterer on the side," was a research tester for a Rochester industry before he went to work at the Playhouse.

He decided to give up tne boxoffice, he said, after a recent illness forced him to seek a quieter life. He will join the- establishment of Henri Projan-sky, East Avenue furrier and clothing merchant, he said. However, he said, he will not give lip entirely his theater activities but will probably do some acting next winter.
