Results of additional tests should be available today, Sodus Supervisor Donna Chittenden said. Until the advisory is lifted, the following options are available for affected customers: Boil water for two minutes. Buy bottled water. Use two drops of liquid bleach, such as Clorox, or four drops of tincture of iodine for each gallon of water and let it stand for 30 minutes before consuming. Hearing to discuss plan to continue 1-90 tolls An Thruway advisory panel will hold a public hearing in Rochester on Thursday on its recommendations that tolls continue after 1996. He's worked very hard for our district," Brown said of Peris, who even with the raise will be the lowest-paid superintendent in the county with a salary of $87,320.

Last year he was second lowest "I spent a great deal of time with the board and my family deciding" whether to take a raise, said Peris, who heads the smallest district in the county. "I thought the board was very generous." Joanne Altland, former president of the West Irondequoit school board, said the 5.1 percent raise the board gave Superintendent Joseph Sproule "amounts to maybe a penny a taxpayer." "The main reason was that we felt he had done such a good job, especially in such a difficult budget year," said Altland, who also mentioned that the board wanted Sproule's salary to keep pace with other superintendents. Spencerport Superintendent Joseph Clement Jr. will receive a 6.1 percent raise. He was awarded the raise after announcing he will retire at the end of the next year.

erosion curbs The DEC studied the lake's major bays and identified areas of concern. Property owners in these areas who plan to construct a new building or modify an existing structure must get a DEC permit Maps showing the hazard areas are on file in the clerk's office in the five towns and at the DEC regional office at 6274 East Avon-Lima Road, Avon. Congress passed the Coastal Erosion Hazard Act in 1972. "If the local jurisdictions don't want to regulate it make the laws that are consistent with the act then it goes to the county and if the county relinquishes jurisdiction, the state takes it over," Rockwell said. "So, that's taken a few years for the opportunity to go to each level of government." Some counties and local governments in the state will administer the act but in Wayne County the DEC will get the job.

Dadey can only negotiate with his feet by leaving," Logel said. "We think that it's a wise investment When you get a good superintendent, you don't want to go out to look for another if you can help it" Logel said that while other superintendents were allowed to forego raises because of tight budgets, the Gates Chili school board did not believe that would be appropriate. "A superintendent is not a public official an elected official He's a public servant, one with specific qualifications. To ask them once they've risen to the top of their profession to freeze their salary is unreasonable." Other school board presidents said their boards chose to give raises to the superintendents to reward achievement or to keep pace with the inflation. "You look into the job they're doing and the qualifications.

You don't do it by personality," said Elizabeth Brown, president of the DEC to discuss Wayne County towns to be meeting sites By Bennett J.
