It was the Mets' 10th victory in their last 12 games. Cone (3-2) struck out eight and walked three in his second complete game, the only two by the Mets this season. Last Sunday, he was chased by Houston after allowing seven runs in 2'j innings at the Astrodome. "There's no better way to redeem yourself than come back and pitch well against the team that beat you," Cone said.

"The difference in Cone today was that he was in front of every batter and throwing strikes," Astros Manager Art Howe said.
