Newark Pizzirusso, Lucia (Meath) November 12, 2010 Obituaries Bakeman, Kathryn Alice Bristol Rochester: Left this earthly life peacefully November 12, 2010, at the age of 99. Kay is survived by her daughter Susan K. Dougherty of Rochester, son Paul E. Bakeman, Jr. of Vermont, grandchildren Eric and Jennifer Bakeman, Dawn (Dougherty) Fitzgerald and Robert Dougherty, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Paul, and her 4 brothers and sisters. Born March 22, 1911, in Rochester, Kay was the youngest child of Albert J. and Kate (Vaisey) Bristol. She graduated from Genesee Hospital School of Nursing, receiving her RN in 1933. The next day, she married Dr.

Paul E. Bakeman, who had a dental practice in the Temple Building for many years. Kay and Paul lived on Cobb Terrace in Brighton, where Kay was active in Brighton Presbyterian Church and a volunteer working with adults at the Cerebral Palsey Center. When their children were grown, they moved to Highview Trail in Pittsford. After Paul's death in 1967, Kay returned to nursing, working in the neonatal unit of Highland Hospital and for Planned Parenthood before moving to Longboat Key, FL, in 1971.

In 2003, Kay moved back to Rochester to be closer to her family, residing at the Rochester Presbyterian Home for the remainder of her life. Kay was an avid player of bridge, backgammon and other games. Kay and Paul loved to travel (especially with their Airstream trailer in tow), visiting family and friends in far-flung places. A true lover of life, she was always up for a mini adventure and a good story. Wherever she went, it was hard to keep up even in the later years when she was slowed down by her walker.

"Eat dessert first," she would remind us all as she showed us how it was done. Donations may be made to Rochester Presbyterian Home or a charity of your choice in her memory.
