Grunst, Elsa T. (Hoesel) Age 82. Passed away peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2002 with loving support from her family. She was predeceased by her husband Robert W. Winton Rochester, 14609. Tarbox, Robert Mack Brigadier General (U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Retired) A resident of Williamsburg since 1995, died Tuesday, November 5, 2002. He was born on January 8, 1918, in Rochester, the first of four sons of George Mack Tarbox and Charlotte A.

Tarbox. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Rochester in 1935. Bob enlisted in the Army in 1936 and won a competitive. Army appointment to West Point, graduating in 1941. Immedately following graduation and commissioning in the Army Corps of Engineers, Bob married Audrey Ruth Bullis of Emerson Street, with whom he had gone to church and high school, and who had been his one and only since then.

Bob retired from the Army in 1971 after attaining the rank of Brigadier General. During his service he was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, and Bronze Star Medal. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Audrey; 2 sons, Robert of Rochester, NY and David, who is married to Barbara (nee Andrews) and resides in Centreville, VA, a retired Colonel in the Army; 3 granddaughters, Emily Tarbox of McLean, VA, Barie Tarbox Katherine Tarbox of Rochester. A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen Lutheran Church on Jamestown Road in Williamsburg at on Saturday, the 9th of November.

Turner, Michael Dowling MD Michael D. Turner of Venice, Florida, died Thursday, November 7, 2002, in Dartmouth, NH. Michael was born on October 26, 1927, in Weston-Super-Mare, England. He was the only child of Frederick and Hilda Turner.

Michael qualified in medicine at the University of Bristol in 1950. He interned at United Bristol Hospital from 1950-1952, He held fellowships at Hammersmith Hospital and was Senior Lecturer in Medicine in Gastroenterology at Royal Free Hospital in London, England. He also held fellowships in Medicine and Biochemistry at the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY from 1958-1960. He received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Rochester, NY in 1960.

In addition, Michael was a First Segal-Watson Professor of Medicine and Chairman of the Department of Gastroenterology at the University of Rochester. Michael moved to Providence, RI, and became the Professor of Medicine and Chairman of Medicine at Brown University. In 1985, Michael moved to Venice, Florida, started a private practice, and was the Attending Physician of Gastroenterology at Venice Hospital. In addition to Michael's many medical accomplishments, he was a kind, generous husband, father of five children, and grandfather of 11 grandchildren. Michael is cherished by his survivors, Sylvia, his wife of 45 years, and children, Jane Eric Haessler, Sarah Joe Holsinger, William Lisbeth Turner, Jennifer Rob Reiger, Dan McCranie, and all the grandchildren.

Kjoller, Mildred S. Mildred S. Kjoller, Enfield, CT died November 7, 2002 at her daughters home in Honeoye Falls, NY. Mildred was born April 9, 1919 in Pittsfield, MA to Robert and Laura (Evo) Shankland. Mildred had a career in banking.

She was the first women to be offered the position of Commercial Teller at the Springfield National Bank and Trust in Springfield, MA. She continued her career in banking and her final position was Executive Secretary to the Vice-President of Community Savings Bank of Springfield, MA. Mildred was an avid Horsewomen and enjoyed athletics. After retirement Mildred volunteered at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MA and Johnson Memorial, CT. Mildred was a wonderful cook, and decorated her surroundings with enthusiasm, planted a lovely garden, and cherished her home.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Jane Laura Kjoller, MD of Honeoye Falls, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Laurie Kjoller of Osterville, MA; grandchildren, Ben and Alex, Anna and Jenna; her brother, Robert Shankland of San Francisco, CA; cousins, Marion Prentice and Margaret Barker; nieces and nephews, many dear friends and Flip her beloved cat.
