She was a school teacher and very prominent in both church and civic affairs. She was a member and elder of the Prattsburg Presbyterian Church and a 60 year member of Baron Steuben Chapter, D.A.R., serving twice as Regent. She was the state recording and President of the State Officer's Club of the D.A.R.
