Senate bid last fall. By CHRIS SCHARF Staff Writer Monroe County Democratic leaders named Joseph D. Valentino as their candidate for Rochester City Court judge last night and designated 22 candidates for County Legislature seats. Valentino, of 105 Collingwood Drive, has been with the Monroe County district attorney's office since 1974 and now administers its local courts division. He's a graduate of Niagara University and St.

John's University School of Law. The Monroe County Bar Association has given him a superior rating. He will run for the City Court position that had been held by Carl R. Scacchetti Jr. The Democrats unanimously designated the 22 legislature candidates.

Legislative campaign coordinator James Lytle said the seven remaining candidates to fill out the Democratic slate should be named within the next two weeks. No decision yet on arts theater MOVE member claims miscarriage By DICK MITCHELL Staff Writer Those planning a performing arts center for the downtown cultural district aren't ready to make a recommendation on the type of theater to build. At a meeting last night, the the-ater's planners said that Friday is the deadline for the return of questionnaires sent to about 110 performing arts groups in the county. The questionnaires ask for opinions on the type of theater desired. So far only atxtut 20 percent of the questionnaires have been returned, Lillian Silver, former director of the Rochester business Committee for the Arts, said.

Ms. Silver and Lewis Parker, executive director of the Cultural Center Commission, said that alter the questionnaires are returned a decision on the type of theater to be built will be made on the basis of the responses. Three alternatives for the theater are listed on the questionnaire. Thev are: an 8(X1-seat theater renting for $800 per performance, a 500-seat theater renting for $700 a performance and a 200-seat theater renting for $1100 a performance. A fourth alternative a combination 500-seat and 200-seat theater was advanced last night.

Parker said that if the responses indicate that a theater with more seating is needed, it is possible that the cultural commission will seek another site. The proposed theater is to le built between Chestnut and Main streets, just west of the Eastman Theater. Original plans called for a 500-seat theater and an enclosed gallery that would include shops and restaurants. Ms. Silver said this plan carried a projected price tag of $4 million.

But, with inflation, costs have soared and she now estimates the theater could cost $7 million or $8 million. The advisory group and Ms. Silver are working for the Cultural Center Commission, established last year by the city and county were yesterday reported to be in their 35th day without eating. The MOVE statement describing the miscarriage was hand delivered to reporters late yesterday by Minister Franklin Florence, president of FIGHT and minister of the Central Church of Christ. Florence said he had received it from Ms.

Wicker at the jail. Yesterday's statement said the fetus was taken from the jail by a jail employee who is sympathetic to the MOVE cause. The statement did not identify the employee. "The baby has been taken to an undisclosed spot and buried in accordance with MOVE's religion," the statement said. Jail authorities said Ms.

Wicker was moved June 9 to a cell where she could be closely observed, after she complained several times of being dizzy. Ms. Wicker was arrested May 13. She later claimed she was pregnant but refused medical examination, saying it was against her religious beliefs. By JIM MYERS Staff Writer Five jailed MOVE members yesterday claimed that Alberta Wicker Africa, one of two MOVE members on prolonged hunger strikes, suffered a miscarriage in the Monroe County Jail June 9.

Their statement said Ms. Wicker began to suffer cramps and vaginal bleeding the night of a melee in the Federal Building after a May 21 federal court hearing. Ms. Wicker, 32, had previously charged she was punched and kicked by federal marshals in a hallway outside the courtroom. In response to the accusations, Sheriff Andrew Meloni last night said: "I'm not going to dignify that kind of thing with a response." He said he doubted a miscarriage could have occurred without jail authorities being aware of it.

"If a major medical happening like a miscarriage happened, I think we would know about it," Meloni said. "Dear God, we're not blind." Ms. Wicker and MOVE member Sue Leon Africa She is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail on Pennsylvania riot, conspiracy and weapons charges stemming from a 1977 MOVE demonstration in Philadelphia. She and eight other MOVE members were arrested May 13 in raids by federal marshals. In a June 12 jail interview, Ms.

Wicker described herself as pregnant. But she also said a major announcement would be coming from MOVE yesterday. In a County Court appearance Monday, Ms. Wicker again refused to submit to a medical examination to determine if she was pregnant. When asked by County Court Judge Andew G.

Celli if she would collect a urine sample herself and turn it over to doctors to verify her pregnancy, Ms. Wicker said she would only do that if other MOVE members agreed. Yesterday's MOVE statement also charged that Ms. Wicker had been held in solitary confinement during 28 of the days she has been jailed here. My 1979 Pontiac station wagon was recalled to replace two bolts. Piehler Pontiac 1560 Lake did the work on April 17. As the car was being taken off the lift, the car got stuck. I shouted to the driver that something was wrong and he backed up the car. One side had to be jerked free of the lift.

I asked them to check the car, but I was told there was no damage. That night I heard a rattle and put the car up on small ramps. I saw there was a hole in the muffler and it was pulled away from the tail pipe. Two prongs that were on the lift had also gone right up through the floor of the back seat and the gas tank was scratched. I was told at PiehJer's that everything would be taken care of.

When I picked up the car, they had patched up the hole in the floor, the muffler and tail pipe. They said if I wanted a new muffler I'd have to pay 75 percent of the bill. I said they were responsible for the damage and they should pay the biggest part of the bill because there was nothing wrong with the car when I took it in. I asked to see the owner and was referred back to the service manager. I appealed to the Pontiac zone office in Buffalo and was told I'd have to deal with the dealer.

THOMAS TONNER, Rochester A. Piehler's satisfied your complaint by replacing the muffler and tail pipe, at no charge. No air cleaners Q. I ordered a $254 air cleaner from Bionomics Controls, Marian, in November. It was charged to my Visa account, but I have not received the unit.
