Sweeney, a building contractor in the Rochester area for more than 55 years, died Wednesday in his home, 1 LaCroix Court, Ironde-quoit. He was 93. Sweeney built homes on Newcastle Road and on Southern Parkway in Brighton.

He built or resurfaced many city and town streets and helped build asphalt plant in 1940. After selling the business to a Pittsburgh company in the late 1940s, Sweeney continued as a consultant to the company until he was 80. Sweeney built the Midvale Country Club and owned and managed it in the 1930s and 1940s. During the Depression he served on a Works Progress Administration board to aid the unemployed. In 1972 Sweeney was given a service award by the Monroe County Association of Town Supervisors of Highways.

He was a charter member of the Rochester Club. Sweeney was born in Troy. From 1904 to about 1911 he played professional baseball with teams in Pough-keepsie and in Lyons. THIS WEEKS SPECIALS 1 J. SEPT.

Moffitt, 84, a former town of Mendon supervisor, died Wednesday at Highland Hospital. Moffitt was a native of Hemlock and came to Honeoye Falls when he was 5.

He opened Moffitt's Grocery there about 1917 and ran it for 45 years. He joined the town government in the early 1930s and was a tax collector before becoming town supervisor in 1941. He was re-elected 11 times to two-year terms. Moffitt was on the county Board of Supervisors and was chairman of the Highway Committee and a member of the Ways and Means Committee. He sold his grocery store in 1962 and retired from politics in 1963.

Moffitt became vice president of the Be-Mar Associates a roller skating rink in Honeoye Falls. The company's president is his son, Harland. Moffitt recently received a 50-year membership pin from the Masons. He belonged to Union Star Lodge 320 in Honeoye Falls. HENRIETTA R9. 424-2424 BRIGHTONHENRIETTA For Reservations Call Oscar G. Meyer, at 81 Oscar G. Meyer of 81 Mailing Drive, traffic manager of the former Yaw-man Erbe Manufacturing Co. for 33 years, died Aug.

31 in General Hospital. He was 81. Meyer was widely known in the transportation field and attended many hearings in Washington on federal rate structures for the industry. He was a past president of the Transportation Club of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce. Meyer was born in Rochester.

After Army service in World War I he joined Yawman Erbe in 1919 as assistant to the traffic manager. He was named manager in 1930. Yawman Erbe made office equipment. For many years Meyer was a leading layman in Salem United Church of Christ. He was a past treasurer of the church.

Holloway, 90. retired head of the Hudson branch of the Rochester Public Library, died Wednesday in the Hill Haven Nursing Home in Penfield. Miss Holloway, formerly of 69 Reservoir was on the staff of the library for almost 40 years. She studied library service at Albany State College and became an attendant at the Lincoln branch library in Rochester July 1, 1918.

Miss Holloway was branch librarian at Lincoln from September 1923 until June 16, 1946, when she was named librarian at the Hudson branch. Until this year Miss Holloway had regularly attended the annua! library luncheons for retired staff members. R. Scherff, 53, in Wisconsin Dasu'S miss the gian Richard Scherff, 53, an athletic director, teacher and coach in Lake Geneva, died there Sunday. Scherff was born in Rochester and attended East High School and the University of Rochester.
