Topcat ROCHESTER DEMOCRAT AND CHRONICLE Sunder. March 23. 1976 85 hurt in London blast in Catalog Showrooms iSIfS il KAKE "RETAILER-OF-TKE-YEAR" THE NAT! DiC Wire Semces LONDON A two-pound bomb exploded in I ho crowded Umdon exhibition hall yesterday and at least 85 persons were injured, Scotland Yard id "There were bleeding bodies lying all over the flixir," one witness said "People were running and srreamini; to the exits and others just standing around crying It was the seventh bomb incident in England this month Police have blamed most of them on the Irish Republican Army, which has vowed to escalate its campaign to wrest Northern Ireland from British rule. A Scotland Yard spokesman said the blast at a home products show came without the coded warning sometimes given by the IRA, but he added I don't know any others who are doing any bombing around here Hospitals reported that four persons lost limbs in the blast, but most of the injured were treated and released. Several of the injured were reported to be children.

The bomb was planted in a wastebin at the fop of an escalator leading from the ground to the first floor of the Olympia exhibition complex, jammed with 20.01X1 visitors. Witnesses said the bomb went off at one of the exhibition's most densely packed areas, near where a wine company was handing out free glasses of wine. The Olympia complex, one of Britain's biggest, is located in the west London district of Hammersmith. Witnesses said the exhibition was evacuated without panic after the blast. Another witness said, "There was a lot of blood and bloodstained clothing.

The ambulances came very quickly. Most people appeared to have been injured in the legs and feet." Callaghan win forecast SONY 100 LONDON iUPI) Supporters of Foreign Secretary James Callaghan said yesterday they believe he will be elected to succeed Harold Wilson as new leader of the ruling Labor party and prime minister of Britain. But they fear the decision by Chancellor of the Exchequer Denis Healey to remain in the race could split the party's center and right wings enabling left wing Employment Secretary Michael Foot to in enough votes to force a third ballot. One London bookmaker was offering odds of 15 on Callaghan, 9-2 on Foot, and 14-1 on Healey. But another bookmaker stopped taking bets, saying too much money already had been placed on a Callaghan victory.

Foot, 62, led Thursday in the first round of balloting by 317 Labor party members of parliament, with 90 votes far short of the 158 votes needed to win outright. He was expected to benefit in the second round from the withdrawal by his fellow left winger Anthony Wedgwood "Tony" Benn. In the first ballot, Benn got 37 votes. Anthony Crossland, a middle of the roader with 17 votes, was eliminated, and Home Secretary Roy Jenkins, a right winger, who got 56' votes, withdrew. But Healey, 58, with 30 votes, refused suggestions he should drop out, too.

"I am standing because I am not a quitter," Healey said Friday. "I entered this race in the belief that 1 would pick up votes continually after the first ballot provided I survived that ballot."
