The committee hopes to make a single recommendation to the school iward by' March 1, Supt. William McPhee said. That will be followed by staff and public hearings and possibly a decision by early April, he said. Spencerport's E.J. Wilson High School, built in 1960. has an official capacity of 880.

A total of 1,070 stu dents are now enrolled. High schools use some classrooms at the Ada M. Cosgrove Middle School next donr. The district proposes to enlarge the school by adding a new library, extending the cafeteria and expanding art, home economics and science rooms. The cost is roughly estimated at $800,000.

(An additional $100,000 will be sought to replace the windows in the 22-year-old Leo Bernabi School. On windy days, cold air and snow blow in past the original windows, Clement said. With new windows, the district can save on fuel costs. The final details and the exact cost of the projects will be put together this week, Cement said. The proposal will then be presented to the State Department of Education.

LOBSTER COMBO Clement anticipates that 70 per cent of the project cost will be paid by the state A referendum will be put before voters by the end of March. The shortage of space did not come as a result of poor planning, Clement said Before Wilson was built, many in the district believed that growth would eventually lead to two high schools. Actual enrollments and the tight money situation do not justify a second high school, Clement said. He said he hoped voters would understand. "We're not trying to create a palace.
