Former Convent Director Sister Julia Francis Scherer of the Sisters of St. Joseph, former director of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent on Mt. Vernon Avenue, home for retired nuns, died Saturday in St. Joseph's Hospital at Elmira, Sister Julia Francis retired as director of the convent 1 in 1969. She was born here and was graduated from the Rochester General Hospital School of Nursing in 1924.

Sister Julia Francis entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1933 and was assigned as a nurse at St. Mary's Boys Home on West Main Street in 1936. In 1941, she was appointed supervisory nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira, a position she held 10 years.

She then continued her nursing studies and became a certified anesthetist. She returned to St. Joseph's Hospital and 10 years later was named director of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent. Sister Julia Francis is survived by cousins. with a son in the auto parts business at Bath.

Clarence W. Musfeldt, 66, of Wayland, Saturday. Born in Brighton, he was a refrigeration equipment repairman. Mrs. C.

Belle Marchant, 86, of Warsaw, yesterday in Wyoming County Community Hospital, Warsaw, where she was a former employe. Mrs. John R. Gaudet, 44, of Canoga, Saturday after a long illness. For the past two years she and her husband operated the Canoga Hotel.

E. Peets, 55; Was Mason Contractor Russell E. Peets, 55, of 1220 Ridge Road, Ontario, Wayne County, a self-employed mason contractor and former dairy farmer, died yesterday his home after several months' ilness. Mr. Peets, a native of Ellenburg, Clinton County, was graduated from East Rochester High School, then went to work for East Rochester Car Shops as a machinist.

He left there in 1943 to operate a dairy farm at his home and in 1958 quit dairy farming to be general supervisor for Taddeo Construction Exposure Blamed In Man's Death CANANDAIGUA Exposure was listed as the cause of death of a 43-year-old Canandaigua town man, who was discovered outside his mobile home on Saturday morning. Donald Carey of Canandaigua RD 4 may have been on the snow-covered ground since Thursday night. His trailer home is north of Purdy Road, said Investigator John E. Simbari of Troop State Police. After discovery of the body, Dr.

Charles E. Bathrick, an Ontario County coroner, ordered an autopsy. Mr. Carey had been a patient at the Canandaigua Veterans Administration Hospital and was released Nov. 13, said Simbari.

Donald F. Carey was born in Canandaigua on Dec. 26, 1929. He was a veteran of 18 years' service with the U. S.

Army. Surviving are his wife, Betty Francis Carey; two sons, Mark and Martin, and one daughter, Mary, all of Shortsville. Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the John C. Johnson Funeral Home, Canandaigua.

A funeral service will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial in Wood- lawn Cemetery. Ernest E. Willey, 70, formerly of Geneseo, yesterday in Venice, where he had resided six years.

He was a retired machinist at Consolidated Machine Tool Co. in Rochester. Mrs. Gertrude R. Sawdey, 55, of Dansville, Saturday in Highland Hospital, Rochester, after a brief illness.

She was a Blum Shoe Co. employe. Herman C. Bateman, 86, of Byron, yesterday in Genesee Memorial Hospital, Batavia, Sales and Leasing Corp. on Merchants Road.

In 1961, he became a selfemployed mason, specializing in fireplaces. Mr. Peets was a 25-year member of Union Hill Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Sherman Peets; his mother, Mrs. Viola Peets of Union Hill; six daughters, Mrs.

Robert Doyle of Macedon, Mrs. Bonnie Danner of Ontario, Mrs. Steve Stramonine of Sodus, Mrs. Howard Spence of Ontario Center, Mrs. Charles VanCassele of Webster and Miss Terri Peets Ontario; three sons, Ronald of Ontario and Lonnie and Gary of Union Hill; three brothers, Rolin, Rodney and Richard of Union Hill; three sisters, Mrs.

Franklin Corwin of Ontario, Mrs. Richard Krenzer of Dexter and Mrs. Ralph Moak of Ontario, and 15 grandchildren. Regional Deaths after a brief illness. He was a retired farmer.

John Lievens, 71, retired Williamson fruit farmer, Friday in Myers Community Hospital, Sodus. G. John Piazza, 60, of Bath, found dead in a truck on the shoulder of Route 15 north of Wallace, died of natural causes, according to Steuben Coroner Dr. Sandor Benedek. Mr.

Nov. 20, Headed Tool Concern B. Eugene Glenzer, 60, of Chicago, a native Rochesterian and president of Tool Mart in Chicago, died of a heart attack Friday in a restaurant in that city. Mr. Glenzer founded the company 18 years ago.

He was graduated from West High School and for five years took night courses at the University, of Rochester while employed days at Eastman Kodak Co. During World War II, Mr. Glenzer was chief engineer for Zenith Radio Corp. of America in Chicago. worked for Sperry Gyroscope Co.
