The monastery he organized in 1950 is in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester and Father Winzen was widely known in the Rochester area. He was born in Hanover, Germany. After being ordained in 1928, he was rector of studies at Maria Laach Benedictine College in Germany and was active in the youth movement in pre-Hitler Germany. Father Winzen came to this country in 1938. He taught philosophy at St.

Paul's Priory in New Jersey and at Manhattan-ville College and was associate editor of "Worship" magazine. He was chaplain at Regina Laudis Convent in Connecticut before founding the monastery at Pine City. He had sold Cadillacs for 30 years, after giving up Taige and Packard dealerships. Mr. Green, who had lived in Brockport 58 years, also developed the 20 houses on Coleman Creek Road shortly after World War II.
