M. Langer, 5401 Holley Byron Road, Holley, has been assigned as a vehicle deprocessing specialist in the 75th Supply Co. near Long Binh, Vietnam. His father, Arthur H. Cleveland, lives near Joliet, 111.

JOY AND EXCITMENT OF CHRISTMAS ON EVERY FLOOR AT SIBLEY'S Army Spec. 4 Peter J. Perna, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A.

Perna, 81 W. Main Le Roy, received the Purple Heart medal Nov. 15 during ceremonies at Camp Blackhorse, Vietnam. Spec. Perna received the award for wounds he suffered in action.

An armored personnel carrier driver in Troop of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment's 2nd Squadron, he is a 1965 graduate of Le Roy High School. Air Force Capt. William 0. Schaffner, son of Mrs. Jack Schaffner, 1175 Middle Road, Rush, recently received eight awards of the Air Medal at Perrin Air Force Base, for air action in Southeast Asia.

Capt. Schaffner flew an F102 Delta Dagger and was cited for his "outstanding airmanship and courage on successful and important missions under hazardous conditions." He holds 11 Air Medals. He is assigned to a unit of the Air Defense Command at Perrin. Capt. Schaffner's wife, Linda, is the daughter of Mrs.

Elnora Elmore of Portsmouth, Ohio. A 1959 graduate of Ashtabula (Ohio) High School, he was graduated in 1963 from Ohio State University and was commissioned there after completing the Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps Program. Sgt. Lee J. Hastings, son of Mr.

and Mrs. N. Lee Hastings, 480 Maplewood has been assigned as noncommissioned of-ficer-in-charge of the Army's new Red Ball Section, Phu Lam, Vietnam. Red Ball, begun several years ago, is a faster than ordi-. nary means of obtaining parts for nonoperable equipment.

It gets its name from the red ball stamped on the outside of a crate to insure fast handling by supply sections. Army Spec. 4 Raymond S. Bonczek, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Army Commendation Medal while serving with the 303rd Radio Research Battalion near Long Binh, Vietnam. Army Pfc. Roger D. Lyon, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Sidney Matthews, 2095 West Side Drive, has been assigned as a rifleman to Company 2nd Battalion of the 9th Infantry Division's 47th Infantry in Vietnam. Army Pfc. Glen A. Reifsteck, 26, son of Mr. and Mrs.

George H. Reifsteck, Route 5, Canandaigua, has been assigned to the 60th Ordinance Long Binh, Vietnam. He is an ammunition storage specialist. His wife, Charlotte, lives at 30 Lake Canandaigua. i fc Army Pfc.

Gary L. Laursen, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Laursen, Route 1, Wabash Road, Geneva, has been assigned as an infantryman in Company 2nd Battalion of the 199th Light Infantry Brigade's 3rd Infantry near Long Binh, Vietnam. Marine Lance Cpl.

James Droney, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Miller, 290 Galahad Road, Henrietta, is stationed with an artillery division near Dong Ha, Vietnam. He is a former Democrat and Chronicle newspaperboy and is a 1966 graduate of Rush-Henrietta High School.
