H. C. Porter Dies; Ex-Gates Justice Herbert C. Porter Herbert C. Porter. 62. a justice and councilman, died y nome, 35 Miramar Road, Mr. Porter in 1958 was appointed acting supervisor during the illness of Supervisor Elbert D. Finch. He was a peace justice from 1952 to 1956. He also was a past - president of the Thomas Edison School Parent-Teacher Association and a former member of the school board. Mr. Porter, an electrical; engineer at Delco Appliance! Division of General Motors Corp.. was a member of the Rochester Engineering Soci-i ety. He was a past treasurer ' of Boy Scout Troop 103. He was a native of Gouver-neur and a 1927 graduate of Clarkson Institute of Technology, now Clarkson College. He leaves his widow, Mrs. C. Marguerite Porter; two sons, David V. of Brockport and John H. Porter of Kent, Ohio, and three grandsons. Mrs. Ida C. Mandery, 95, Auto Dealer's Widow Mrs. Ida C. Mandery. 95, widow of one of Rochester's pioneer automobile dealers, died yesterday (Oct. 8, 1965) at her home, 203 Dartmouth St. Mrs. Mandery's husband, Joseph J. Mandery, entered the automobile business in 1896 when he became Rochester agent for the American Electric Co. which manufactured electric automobiles. Before his death in 1915 he represented more than 25 early automakers and was reputed to have been the first dealer to advertise in a newspaper. Mrs. Mandery was the mother of nine children, of whom five survive. They are Alexander J. Mandery, Miss Irene Mandery, Mrs. Ray mond T. Shafer, Mrs. John E Keenan and Mrs. Felix de Mezirard. She also leaves six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. former Town of Gates peace esterday (Oct. 8, 1965) in his Miss May C. O'Mara, Sister of Justice Miss May C. O'Mara of Utica, sister of State Supreme Court Justice Daniel J. O'Mara of 103 Hurstbourne Road, Irondequoit, died ves-terday (Oct. 8, 1965). Miss O'Mara, 80. taught elemen tary grades in Utica schools for about 45 years. Harold A. MacCallum, Dies in Alexandria, Va. Harold A. MacCallum. a Rochester native who joined the War Production Board in Washington in 1941, died in his home at Alexandria, Va., Monday (Oct. 4, 1965). After the war, Mr. MacCallum became an industrial specialist on the U.S. Muni tions Board. He held a bachelor of science degree from the University of Rochester. Mr. MacCallum leaves his widow, Marion L.; and a daughter. Marion C. MacCallum of New York. CMA Elects 8 to Board The Rochester Civic Music Assocation yesterday elected eight members to its board of directors. New directors are Donald W. Cook, Mrs. Sol M. Lino-witz, Eustis F. Rawcliffe and Charles L. Rumrill. Re-elected were Mrs. Steven V. Lines, Beaumont Newhall, Dr. Arnold Weissberger and Mrs. Frederick Wilkens. They were elected at the association's annual luncheon meeting in the Eastman Theater. TOSSED FROM CYCLE A girl was tossed from a motorcycle when it slammed into a guard rail at Klem Road and Maple Drive, Webster, yesterday afternoon. Northside Hospital identified her as Elaine Ensign, 15, of 754 Herman Road, Webster, and said she was released after treatment. Auto Injuries Fatal to Pedestrian, 73 Injuries suffered when she was hit by a car while crossing a street near her apartment Thursday night resulted in the death yesterday of Jane Sallerson, 73. of 1650 East Ave., a retired department store saleswoman. Miss Sallerson died in Genesee Hospital about five hours after being struck in East Avenue about 8:15 p.m. She had left a bus only a few minutes earlier. A relative said Miss Sallerson went downtown on Thursday to have her hair done and eat dinner in a restaurant. She was a sales clerk at B. Forman Co. for 25 years, retiring about two years ago. Police said the impact of the car driven by Frederick Wood, 59, of 190 Leighton Ave. hurled Miss Sallerson 31 feet into a driveway. Patrolman Louis' Davis said Wood told him he saw the pedestrian only seconds before the impact. It was raining, police reported. If the death is listed as a traffic fatality, it would be the 13th in Rochester this year compared with 23 for the corresponding period a year ago. Miss Sallerson leaves a sister, Mrs. Meyer Cohen; and a brother, Louis Sallerson, both of Rochester. I . Cyclist Crashes SoNoWedding, A 21-year-old motorcyclist' was upset last night in more ways than one. William Voegele of 68 West High Ter. suffered scalp lacerations and neck injuries when his cycle collided with a car at Main Street West and Plymouth Avenue South about 8:40 p.m. Voegele was still being treated at Strong Memorial Hospital early today. The hospital reported he was "very upset." He was due this morning in Philadelphia for a wedding his own. The driver of the car was identified as Sidney Blue, 36, of Sodus. Harry G. Conolly Dies Harry G. Conolly of 2 Quaker Road, Pittsford, a retired printing consultant and former president of a printing company, died Tuesday (Oct. 5, 1965) in Minneapolis. He was there with his brother-in-law, Dr. James Welch of Fairport, for the World Series at nearby Bloomington, Minn. Charles A. Natalie; Ex-Taxi Driver Charles A. (Duke) Natalie, 71, of 82 Ballard Ave., Greece, a taxi driver in Rochester ofr 32 years and a World War I veteran, died in the Batavia Veterans Administration Hospital Wednesday (Oct. 6, 1965).
