LENWOOD MONTE Ames J' Jerry Geller, a longtime Windsor Heights resident and World War II veteran, died peacefully on his 98th birthday on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center. He leaves this world with dignity, respect, and the love of his family and many friends. Born in Fargo, North Dakota to Louis and Ida Rose Geller, the fifth of nine children, Jerry enlisted in the army in 1942 and honor- ably served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the European Theater of World War II.

Shirley Mogle, 79, passed away November 3, 2015. A Memorial Service in celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, November 6 at lies Westover Chapel in Des Moines. Shirley's family will greet guests during visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Animal Rescue League or Camp Sunnyside in Shirley's name.

They married in September 1950, and together raised two sons. In 1961 he founded Geller's Glass and Upholstery, a family business that he sold to his son, Leslie, in 1989. He transitioned to proprietor of Jerry's Upholstery Supply until his retirement in 2009 at age 91. He was a member of Beth El Jacob Synagogue, Tifereth Israel Synagogue, B'nai B'rith, and the Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America, for which he served as Treasurer.

Jerry is survived by Barbara, his wife of 65 years; sons, Leslie and David (Debbie) Geller; granddaughters, Devora Geller and Riva (Joe) Andersen; sister, Esther Oleisky; brothers, Harry (Annette) Geller and Aaron Geller; and many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, brothers Sam and Max Geller; and sisters, Mary Ann Popowsky, Dora Snider, and Leah Fursetzer. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 6 at Tifereth Israel Synagogue with Rabbi Steven Edelman Blank presiding. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to Beth El Jacob Synagogue or Tifereth Israel Synagogue.

Donna R. Streeter, 70, was born February 2 0, 1945, to Andrew and Arline Townsend in Des Moines. She passed away at Taylor House on November 3, 2015. Donna attended Altoona High School and graduated from University of Northern Iowa. She was a longtime and active member of Rising Sun Church of Christ.

Donna loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Donna is survived by her children, Cindy (Kent) Efnor and Brian (Angela) Streeter; grandchildren, Tyler, Brooke, Collin, Jayson, Kaili, Katie, and Kacie; her brother, Don (Darlene) Townsend; and a host of other family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Rising Sun Church of Christ, 6390 NE Rising Sun Drive, Pleasant Hill, with a private family burial at Altoona Cemetery. Bridget was born May 25, 1918 to Hermana and Julio Lopez in Des Moines, 1 (II I Douglas L. Jansz died on November 3, 2015 at his Home. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 12:00 at Hamilton's nn Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA; with visitation to follow from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. His ashes will be interred at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City, IA. Doug was born to William and Ruth VanderLinden IA.

She was raised in Des Moines and attended Lincoln High School. In May 1942, Bridget married Gilbert Rocha. The two resided in Valley Junction where they spent the remainder of their lives. Bridget was a loving homemaker and an excellent cook. You could often find her making fresh tortillas and playing with her children and grandchildren.

As her daughters entered their teenage years, she joined the workforce, applying her cooking skills making pizza at The Tavern and as cook for the West Des Moines school system. Her hobbies included ceramics, crocheting, embroidery and gardening. In her later years she loved sitting on the porch and enjoying the sun. She is survived by two daughters, Rita Moreno and Anita Rocha-Saffell, both of West Des Moines; five grandchildren, Paul Moreno, Ann Marie Moreno, Andrea Rocha, Peter Rocha, and Carlos Rocha; seven great-grandchildren, Maya Moreno, Margeaux Rocha, Tomas Rocha, Rosalio Rocha, Quinn Rocha, Alicia Rocha and Augustine Rocha; and two great-great-granddaughters, Dondria and Evelyn Rose. Bridget was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; her parents; her sisters, Martha Rios, Regina Mendenhall and Mary Lopez; stepson, Ramon Rocha; and a great-granddaughter, Nora Wynd.

He was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School in 2001. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Geographical Information Systems at the University of Iowa in 2005. After graduation, he moved to Omaha, NE where he worked as Senior Project Engineer in the corporate offices of Union Pacific Railroad until his untimely death. On October 1, 2011, Nick married the love of his life, Sara Bachman, of Ankeny, Iowa at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Des Moines.

Their family grew when they adopted their beloved dog, Goose, in 2013. He is survived by his wife, Sara; parents, Jim and Janie Paape, Mason City; sister, Mara (Tim) Kaplan, Cottage Grove, MN; brother, Tyson (Sarah) Paape, Minneapolis, MN; niece and nephews, Peyton, Max, Cade and Boden Kaplan; mother-in-law, Julia Bash, Ankeny; father-in-law John Bachman, Ankeny; brother-in-law Christopher Bash, Ankeny; uncle, Jim (Diane) Lehman, Peru, IN and aunt Julie Farren, Colo, IA; and cousins and friends. Nick was preceded in death by grandparents, Walter and Lillian Paape, Ralph and Betty Lehman and his uncle Mark Farren. RONALD HEMMEN Webster City Ronald a Hemmen, age 82, the son of Harold and Ruth (Seaboch) Hemmen, was born March 10, 1933. He lived in Hamilton County all his life, graduating from Webster City High School.

In 1955 Ron was united in marriage to Leila Hemmen. He owned and operated Consolidated Freight and Storage all his working life. Ronald Hemmen has been a former President of the Webster City Chamber of Commerce and was recognized and chosen "Business Man of the Ronald was a member of Kamrar Community Church. Ronald Hemmen is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruth, a daughter, Paula Etter (Bob) Holloway, a granddaughter, Renae Holloway, and a great grandson, Jeremiah Jannenga. Survivors include his wife, Leila, three children; Rhonda (Randall) Peterson, Sonia (John) Humble, and Darren (Michon Leddy) Hemmen.

Also six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. He graduated from Pella High School and attended Central College and Drake University.

He began working for Western Electric as a communications installer and his job would take him to cities all over Iowa and from North Platte, NE to San Diego, CA and Manhatten, New York City. Doug married Central college coed, Joyce Elfin in 1958. They lived in Des Moines where a daughter and son were born, then 15 years in Prairie City where another daughter joined the family. Doug became a member of Preston Masonic Lodge and served on the Prairie City Council. In 1980, they moved to Cedar Rapids where Doug was Operations Supervisor for northeast Iowa.

Returning to Des Moines, Doug retired in 1989 from Technologies, the successor to Western Electric. Seeking adventure, Doug and Joyce worked summers in Denali National Park in Alaska, volunteered in Gallatin National Forest in Montana and also enjoyed many trips to the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, Australia, Cuba and other places in the world and U.S. Doug will be remembered for his laid back manner and wry sense of humor. He put his family first and was a steady encouraging influence. He enjoyed swimming, boating, mountain hiking and attending Hawkeye football games with friends.

In 2000, he was diagnosed with MS. He is donating his central nervous system tissue to the Rocky Mountain MS Tissue Bank at the Colorado School of Medicine for research. Cherishing Doug's memory are his wife, Joyce; daughters, Marti Parkinson of Crowley, TX, Heidi Dexter of Mountain Lakes, NJ; son-in-law, Kevin Dexter; grandchildren, Zara and Nicholas Parkinson, Zachary and Ryan Dexter; and his half-sisters, Penny Harvey of Ojai, CA and Pamela Jansz of Rancho Murieta, CA. Doug was preceded in death by his son, Christopher. The family thanks Unity Point Hospice for their care and support.
