Burial will be at w'lkiB Colo Cemetery in Colo, IA. uSTEB Frank was born May 19, 1927 to parents, Hugh and Jessie Hughes in Nora Springs, IA. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1945 and entered the Marine Corps in 1946. After military service, he attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and graduated from the Veterinary School of Medicine in 1955. Frank practiced as a large and small animal veterinarian in St.

Charles, Humboldt, Hampton and Cherokee, and was Diagnostician for Ft. Dodge Labs in Ft. Dodge, IA for three years. The last several years of his career he was a federal veterinarian in meat inspection, serving as a Circuit Supervisor for USDA and was a member of IVMA, AVMA and NAFV. When Dr.

Hughes retired, he was the Buena Vista County Veterans Service Officer in Storm Lake, IA. Frank married Patricia Handsaker of Colo, IA in 1955. Together they raised three children. Patricia died of cancer in 1979. On February 14, 1981, he married Cheryll Mowen Swalwell of Clive, IA.

The couple resided for fifteen years in Storm Lake, IA, then in 1997 moved to Sun Lakes, AZ for fifteen years, and in 2010 they relocated to Clive, IA and have been residents of Walnut Ridge Senior Retirement Home. Frank had a passion for reading, especially history; and loved music, especially opera. His wife, Patricia; sister, Helen Hughes; daughter, Kathy Hughes Custer; and his father and mother preceded him in death. Frank is survived by his wife, Cheryll; children, Helen Hughes Lamote (Bob), Tom Hughes (Rosemary); son-in-law, Todd Custer (Mariko); sister, Joan Hughes; step-children, Rick Swalwell (Karen), Linda Garcia (Jose), Ron Swalwell (Ann), Randy Swalwell (Dave Waggoner) and Kim Swalwell (Teri Davisson); 5 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. JERRY E.BROWN Mitchellville Jerry Brown, 82, passed away Thursday October 29th at the Veterans Hospital surrounded by his family. Jerry retired from Motor Express and was also a Marine Combat Veteran of the Korean War. Some of his hobbies included camping, fishing, woodworking and gambling.

But most of all spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years Colleen, children Randy (Becky), Jerry (Judy), Joe (Sue), Mark (Sharon), Betsy (Pat) Hemping, Greg (Sherry) and 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. ROSEANNA DITTMER Lacona Services for Roseanna Dittmer, 84, of Lacona will be Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lacona. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service to be held at 7:00 p.m.

at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Lacona. Memorials are requested to St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Walter and Theresa Klein; daughter, Kathleen Freidrichs, and sister, Marian Schneider. PILMER Urbandale y. Lj 1 A Bailey, 97, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at West Bridge Care Rehabilitation in Winterset, IA. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at McLaren's Chapel with burial at Rest-haven Cemetery. Coleen was born to Frank and Elzina (Barr) McCullough in Davis County, IA on October 29, 1918.

She married Harold Bailey on December 15, 1945 and was a farm housewife for most of her life. She is survived by her son, Gary (Carmie) Bailey of Des Moines and a grand-daughter, Katie (Stacy) Collier of Des Moines. Coleen was preceded in death by her husband Harold. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at McLaren's.

Memorial contributions may be given to Kavanagh House on 56th Street. 5 McLaren's Chapel JANE FITZGERALD RAE Peoria, Arizona Jane Rae, 82, passed aw ay on fir rim 0ctober 27 at Memorial Hospital in Houston, TX. Jane Marie Fitzgerald Rae was born on May 29, 1933 in Atlantic, IA to E. Merle Walker and Howard J. Fitzgerald.

She graduated from Simpson College. She was an elementary teacher and continued as a substitute teacher until her retirement. Early childhood education and literacy were important platforms to Jane. In 1956, Jane married Earl F. Rae.

They were married for 49 years before Earl's passing in 2005. Jane and Earl raised their 4 children in Washington and Indianola, IA before retiring to Phoenix, AZ. She is survived by her children Nancy (Kielty) of Shenzhen, China, Vicki (Meech Mladenovic) of Dallas, TX, Jodi (Troy Donley) of Houston, TX, and James (Xiaodan Wang) of Sacramento, CA her grandchildren Matthew, Makayla, Spencer, Logan, Maitreya, and Aidan her sister Sharon Bishop and many nieces and nephews. Donations can be made in memory of Jane Rae to the Washington Public Library (115 W. Washington Washington, IA 52353).

John R. Pilmer, 93, died Saturday morning, October 31, 2015 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, November 5, 2015 at lies Westover Chapel. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery. John was born April 4, 1922 in Des Moines to John and Esther (Hunter) Pilmer.

He was a North High School graduate. In October 1942, John married Winifred Michael Ling, 47, of Mount Vernon, died of pancreatic cancer on All Saints Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. on Nov.

7, 2015, at Seeds of Faith Lutheran Church, Lisbon. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. on Fri. at Stewart Baxter Funeral Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Ann, and sons, Christian and Cameron.

Mary Margaret, the daughter of Fred and Ollie (Driskell) Bird, was born August 14, 1920 in Filer, Idaho. She was actively involved with Highland Park Christian Church, Highland Park Legion Auxiliary, the Northside Senior Center, Eastern Star, and Purple Heart Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed gardening and collecting birds. She also liked traveling and researching genealogy. She is survived by her son, Andrew L.

(Judy) Grovo; daughters, Karla (Duane) Lass and Sandra Jackson; eight grandchildren; eleven greatgrandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Drexel C. Jackson; sister, Dorothy L. Main; and grandson, Robert C. Vlack.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association. DIANA SUE REYES Des Moines a a Sue Reyes, 71, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Fleur Heights Care Center. Diana was born July 12, 1944 in Des Moines to Frank and Ida (Thomas) Reyes. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and attended Grandview College and the University of Iowa. Diana had held various positions in accounting and retail sales prior to her retirement.

She had an appreciation for art and music. Diana is survived by her brothers, Fred (Janice) Reyes and Dan (Shirley) Reyes; numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Virginia Nixon and Delores Dudley. A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Thompson passed from this life October 30, 2015. Services for Marion Thompson will be held 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton, Iowa.

Voigts, 87, of Waverly, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly. She was bom on November 24, 1927, to Bill and Helen Muehling in Deshler, Nebraska.

She moved with her family in 1940 to Waverly, Iowa where she graduated from Waverly High School in 1945 and Wartburg College a in 1949. There she met LeRoy Voigts, whom she later married in 1950 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the congregation of which she was a member at the time of her death. "Red" and Darlene both went on to teach school in Keystone, Denver and Sumner, Iowa until they moved to Des Moines in 1952 where she worked as a secretary to help her husband get through law school at Drake University. It was there that they made their home until moving back to Waverly in 2003.

During their 65 years of marriage, Red and Darlene became the loving parents of Doug, Jane and Nancy, and the joyful grandparents of Lucy and Gaby. Darlene was actively involved in P.E.O. in both Des Moines and Waverly, was a volunteer at Iowa Lutheran Hospital and on the board of the Des Moines Community Playhouse. She was also very active in her beloved Windsor Heights Lutheran Church in Des Moines, where she enjoyed playing in the Bell Choir and many other church activities. She loved playing bridge with her friends, was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast, and one heck of a good Scrabble player.

She is also fondly remembered for being a wonderful hostess who baked the best cookies and rhubarb pies around. Her cooking was beyond compare. Darlene is survived by her husband, LeRoy, her children Doug Voigts, Reverend Jane Voigts, Nancy (Henry) Godinez, and her two grandchildren, Lucy and Gaby. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother LeRoy Muehling and her sister Lois Anderson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.

at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, Iowa, with a visitation beginning at 10:00. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery South Vilmar in rural Greene at 1:30. Visitation will also be held on Friday, November 6th from 4:00 6:00 p.m.

He retired as Vice President of 3E in 1993, after 53 years with the company. In 2002 John married Diane Harris. John was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and golf.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; children: Linda (Larry) Watson of Waukee, John (Kathy) Pilmer of Urbandale; grandchildren: Joey Pilmer of New York City, Teresa (Scott) Grau of Urbandale, Christine (Troy) Berglund of Clive, Darrick (Felisha) Watson of Urban-dale; great grandchildren: Conner, Jacob, Carson and Hunter. John was preceded in death by his first wife, Winifred in 1997, and his sisters: Mary Beth Harrington and Genevieve Stroud. The family will receive friends from pm, Wednesday at lies Westover Chapel.
