in in I 2 DEMOCRAT AND CHRONICLE 2B JAN. 12, 2000 A.M. Digest Waterloo woman hurt in propane stove blast WATERLOO A Seneca County woman was recuperating yesterday from burns she received in an explosion at her home. Karen L. Leach, 33, of 2305 Edwards Road, Waterloo, was treated for first- and second-degree burns yesterday as an outpatient at Strong Memorial Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The accident happened about 7 p.m. Monday. Seneca County sheriff's deputies said Leach had moved her stove, then smelled propane and noticed the pilot light had gone out. She then relit the pilot light, causing an explosion. Leach was burned over the front of her body.

She and her daughters ages 13, 10 and 5 escaped before their mobile home caught fire. The girls were not injured. The mobile1 home was destroyed. Leach was taken by North Seneca Ambulance to a hospital, but a news release did not specify which one. Fire investigators determined that an improperly fitted piece on the stove caused the leak when the stove was moved.
