But the Tampa Bay defense could have an easy time of it without Segota to worry about. Last vear, Segota scored both goals in the Lancers' 2-1 overtime victory over the Rowdies at Holleder. Mike Stojanovic, who will probably play even after being accidentally kicked by a teammate in practice, has scored four goals in as many games since moving to lefi wing.

KEY MATCHUP: Rowdies forward Roberts vs. Lancers rookie defender Dennis Mepham, who has held Giorgio Chinaglia, Alan Green and Ivan Lukacevic scoreless. MISCELLANEOUS: The Lancers need a victory desperately to salvage the three-game homestand (they lost to the Cosmos, 4-2, on June 11 A win would put the Lancers back into third place past Washington. A nine-point victory by the Rowdies would boost them into first over Fort Lauderdale. Tampa leads the all-time series over Rochester, 6-4, but the Rowdies are winless (0-4) in Rochester.

The outfield probably will consist of Bob Schuster, the league's leading home run hitter (seven), Ralph Piccinino, newcomer Bob Cooper and either Steve Re or Dale Sturm. If available, either Pete Castle (hamstring) or Rick Pal-miero (thigh pull) would probably start ahead of Eastridge High graduate Cooper in the outfield.

NEW ENGLAND PILGRIMS (12-14) -The Pilgrims lost all four games to Pittsburgh last weekend. They lost all four games they played in Rochester last year at Harris-Whalen Park, and probably won't benefit from the short Softball Centre fences.
