CHESTER (PA.) TIMES MONDAY. FEMUTARY 9, 1953 Delaware County Servicemen Ma1- Isabel M. Kent, former Chester nurse, received a Bronze Star Medal recently for services in the Korean combat zone. She is a graduate of Chester Hospital School of Nursing. The medal is being presented in the above picture by Brig.

Gen. Martin E. Griffin, commandant, Brooke Army Hospital, Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. Miss Kent received the medal "for meritorious service against an armed enemy of the U.

She was a member of the start of the 11th Evacuation Hospital in Korea from May 17, 1951 to Sept. 10, 1952. Since then she has returned to the U. S. (U.

Charles S. Chappell, son of Mrs. Agnes M. Roy, 317 Grounsell and Reuben Chappell, of Portage, recently spent a five day rest leave in Japan. Chappell is a member of the 15th Anti Aircraft Artillery Battalion, 7th Infantry Division, He entered thtj" Army in April, 1948, and arrived in Korea last June.

AB John K. Thomas, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J.

Thomas, of Glen Riddle, recently enlisted in the Air Force and is taking basic training at Sampson AFB, N. Y. He attended Swarthmore High School and Pennsylvania Military College. Pvt. Donald E.

Williamson, 224 Market is serving in Japan with the 24th Infantry Division. The division is receiving field training in Japan after being rotated out of the combat line early in 1952. He entered the Army last February. AB Robert J. lurk, 19, son of Mrs.

Anna Turk, 1210 McCaffery is stationed at Sampson AFB, N. Y. He recently enlisted for four years duty. Pvt. William H.

Laird, husband of Grace V. Laird, 3532 W. 9th is one of a group of U. S. soldiers helping to rebuild a Korean school.

Laird and other members of the GERALD H. SPAHR 32nd Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, are giving part of their monthly pay to the building fund. The money is being used to build a new school in Pochon, one of Korea's hardest hit cities. Pochon, a city of 35,000 had 123 school classrooms before the war. Now it has only four rooms.

Laird is an assistant automatic rifleman in Co. E. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Laird, of the 9th street address.

AB Gerald H. Spathr, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard C. Spahr, 501 N.

Orange Media, is an Air Force recruit at Sampson AFB, N. Y. Spahr is a graduate of Media High School and attended West Chester State Teachers College for one year. He enlisted in the Air Force for four years. He was employed during summer vacations as a caretaker for Frederick Griscom.
