ROCHESTER DEMOCRAT AND CHRONICLE Wednesday, May 6, 1970 5jD into A get Rev. D. O'Rourke Catholic Pastor it win Ai wrnes The Rev. Daniel B. O'Rourke, pastor of Our Mother of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church in Greece 33 years, died yesterday (May 5, 1970) in St.

Ann's Home. He was 81. Father O'Rourke was born at Scipio in Cayuga County. He was graduated from St. Andrew's and St.

Bernard's seminaries here and was ordained 'in 1915. He served as assistant pastor of St. Augustine's and the then Sacred Heart Pro-Cathedral and was appointed pastor of St. Gregory's Church at Marion and the Church of the Epiphany, Sodus. At the time of his appointment as pastor of Mother of Sorrows Church in October 1929, it had 380 parishioners.

He came here 35 years ago after attending St. Anselm's College in Manchester. He worked for Hart Food Stores and Delco Products Division of General Motors Corp. before serving in the Army during World War II. The Rev.

John M. Merklinger, 58, spiritual director of seminarians at St. John Fisher College, died of a heart attack last night (May 5, 1970) in Becket Hall, the seminarians' campus residence. Father Merklinger, a native Rochesterian, studied for the Roman Catholic priesthood at St. Andrew's and St.

Bernard's seminaries and was ordained here in 1937. He was assistant pastor at Francis of Assisi Parish here from 1937 to 1942, when he was transferred to St. Ann's Parish in Hornell. Father Merklinger was appointed chaplain for Strong Memorial and Municipal hospitals in 1945 and served until 1957. Frank P.
