2B ROCHESTER DEMOCRAT AND CHRONICLE Saturday, May 2, 1970 Ontario Studies IDA SPECIAL PURCHASE Weather Watch CANANDAIGUA A special investigative committee was named among Ontario County Supervisors here yesterday. The five-member task force will research a legislative act whereby industrial development agencies are established. Supervisor Chairman Jackson M. De Bolt, Geneva City, appointed these committeemen: William F. Mc Gowan, committee chairman, Geneva City; Edward M.

Victor; Elwyn C. Herendeen, Far-mington; Joseph J. Koos, Can- andaigua City, and Arthur Rundell, Geneva Town. Supervisors yesterday were told that Wayne County has cieated an IDA. McGowan explained that the law as enacted permits a county to establish an industrial development agency thereby offering a municipality opportunity to provide a financial method to attract industry without com-miting the area to a bonding process.

McGowan said he favored thorough study of the feasibility of such an agency for On tario County. He said the IDA Act could help broaden the county tax base, by luring new industry, and perhaps relieve farmers and other property owners of some of the mounting tax burdens.
