a Two killed in accident on man's 21st birthday BY STAFF WRITER JEFFREY BLACKWELL BRIGHTON James T. Sheehan Jr. was celebrating his 21st birthday when he died Saturday in a three-car accident that also took the life of 83-year-old Hermina Decker. "Naturally, when we have an accident like this we look at the possibility of alcohol," Brighton Police Lt. Stan Avery said.

"Alcohol may not have been a factor, but we have to wait for the medical reports to find out." No charges were filed i in the accident. Avery said police are still investigating. Sharon Sheehan, James' mother, also is looking for answers. She said her son was going to the House of Guitars on Saturday to buy a compact disc with the money his grandmother gave him for his birthday. She did not know where he was headed after that.

"This is all a nightmare," she said. "We heard that they were speeding and alcohol may have been a factor. But police told us the driver had not been drinking." The three-car crash occurred about 5:30 p.m. Saturday at North Landing Road at Browncroft Boulevard. Brighton Police said Decker was trying to turn left from Browncroft Boulevard onto North Landing Road when two cars coming from the opposite direction struck her car at a high rate of speed.

Carl T. McDonald, 27, was the driver of one car, and Gregory Farrington, 19, was the driver of the other. McDonald was not injured. Sheehan, 21, of 319 North Park Drive, Irondequoit, was killed when Automobile accident knocks out electricity STAFF REPORTS A car accident at the intersection of Statt and Whittier roads in Ogden may have caused a power line to fall more than a mile away yesterday leaving nearly 4,000 residents in three surrounding towns without power. The collision between two cars sent one of the cars into a nearby utility pole, hitting the metal cable that supports the pole.

Immediately after the accident, more than a mile away at Manitou and Statt roads, a power line fell to the ground and smoldered on the grass. About 3,700 people in Gates, Chili and Spencerport lost their power. Rochester Gas and Electric Corp. crews 1 used alternative circuits to restore power temporarily to all but about 1,000 customers yesterday afternoon while the crews replaced and recharged the damaged power lines.
