and Mrs. Wm. R. Nivens, 785 Burges st, Seguin are the parents of the bride and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Benjamin Daugherty of Brady, Texas. The setting at the altar and in the chancel consisted of white gladioli and green mums flanked by candelabra holding 18 tapers. Mr. CraigSmith was the organ- lit and accompanied Mrs. Lavo- vm Kohler, the soloist, as she "Oh, Promise Me," and "The Lord's Prayer." The bride given in marriage hy her father was pretty in her formal wedding gown of chantilly lace In the bouffant silhouette with the bodice being detailed with seed psarls and sequins.

The bodice was detailed with a high neckline and long renaissance sleeves. The tiered skirt flowed into a cathedral length train. Her veil of or- and lace was in the Camelot with pearls outlining the headpiece. Her face veil was of nylon trimmed with imported English lace. The bride carried a bouquet of pearls accented with rainbow colored ribbon streamers.

The matron of honor was Mrs. Gregory John Volhmr, Bister of the bride. She was attired in a floor length worsted linen dress in a Kelly green shade trimmed with white. The long sleeves were fashioned of white organdy. She carried a basket of green and white flowers with green net and ribbon trim.

The maid of honor was Miss Connie Elaine Nivens, also a sister of the bride. She was dressed in a yellow worsted linen dress which extended to floor length and was trimmed in white with long white organdy sleeves. She wore a yellow ribbon bow in her hair. She carried a basket holding yellow and white flowers and was trimmed with net and ribbon streamers. Joe Daugherty of Brady, was his brother's best man.

And Mike Key, also of Brady, was the groomsman. Assisting as ushers were William Lester Nivens, brother of the bride and Gregory John Vollmar, brother-in-law of the bride. The bride's mother wore a blue linen floor length dress fashioned with long white organdy sleeves and the dress was trimmed with white. She wore white gloves and her corsage was of white double carnations. The groom's mother was attired in a lavender floor length polyester dress with white organdy sleeves and her corsage was also of double white carnations.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. The bride's table was kid with a white cutwork cloth with silver accents. The centerpiece was of roses and carnations accented with white doves and flanked by silver candelabra. The bride's cake was a white confection decorated with yellow and green sugarspun roses accented with two champagne glasses. Serving the bride's cake were Mrs.

Doris Marie Lowver and Miss Rita Kay Cramer. Mrs. Larry Parker served the punch. Registering the guests in the bride's book were Miss Lucito Lowver and Miss Deborah Marie Lowver. For traveling on their wedding trip to Austin the bride chose to wear a Kelly Green suit with a white polyester blouse with white accessories and a white and green carnation corsage.

Upon returning the couple will be at home at 830 E. Baker Street, Seguin, The bride is a 1971 Seguin High School graduate and a 1972 graduate of the New Braunfela School of Vocational Nursing. The groom is a 1970 graduate of Brady High School and Is presently in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Wllford Hall Hospital at Lackland Air Force Base. Only Apr. 4 Luncheon compliments Miss Brawner Miss Mary Anne Brawner, a 1973 Seguin High School Senior, was honored at a one o'clock luncheon Saturday, March 24 at Scriveners Tea Room. Upon arriving the hostesses, Mrs. Harold Beauchamp and Mrs. George Beauchamp, presented Mary Anne with a daisy corsage.

The centerpiece on the table was an unique white ladder hold- Ing daisies, mortar boards and graduate figurines on the various rungs of the ladder. The place cards featuring stand-up graduate silhouettes marked places for nine guests Including the honoree's mother, Mrs. Eugene Brawner and her sister, Miss Nancy Brawner. The three course luncheon con- sl'sted of hot consomme and cheese wafers, chicken crepe, spinach souffle, molded salad, an assortment of hot breads, Iced tea, coffee and a dessert course of strawberry frost. Future Homemakers of America was founded June 11, 1945, as an incorporated, nonprofit organization supported by membership dues. Nationwide in membership and effort, it is cosponsored by the U. S.

Office of Education through the Division of Vocational ana Technical Education and the American Economics Association. High School home economics teachers, members of the state home economics education staff and lead- ing home economists serve as advisors to chapter, state, and national youth officers, giving guidance and counseling to the program. National headquarters are located in Washington, D. C. The annual state meetingoftha Texas Association will be May 3-5, 1973 in the Convention Center, San Antonio.

MorethanS.OOO members and advisors are expected to attend. The theme oi the meeting is "Up, Up, and Away with Programs are planned to help members have a feeling of accomplishment through FHA activities. FHA is an upward looking, forward moving organization. Highlights of the meeting include talks by Marilyn Van Derbur, former Miss America and popular youth speaker and Sumy Martin, Belton, Yo-Yo champion and humorist with an inspiring message for young people. Frederick McClure, State Future Farmers of America President, San Augustine, has written and will present an original Ceremony of Allegiance.

Members recognized for outstandingachie- vement will be honored at a reception on Friday evening. Mrs. Weidner hosts Clear Springs Club The Clear Springs Home Demonstration Club met Wednesday March 21 In the home of Mrs. Arno Weidner. The devotion was given by Martha Bothe.

Some seven members and a visitor, Mrs. E.F. Bode, a prospective member, answered roll call with "My Pet Peave." The Interesting program "Proper Fertilization and How" was given by County Agent, Mr. Gus Person. The hostess served turkey salad, chiffon cake a la mode, tea and coffee.

Allred of Rt. 2, Seguin, announce the engagement of their daughter, Diane Louise to Mr. Joe (Joey) Lynn McClaugherty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank L.

McClaugherty, 840 Prexy drive, Diane is a 1971 graduate of Seguin High School where she was a varsity cheer leader and member of National Honor Society. She is presently attending University of Texas where she is a sophomore Home Economics Education major. She has received many awards for her aquatic and gymnastic talent. Joey is a 1969 graduate of Seguin High School where he was also a member of National Honor Society and quarterback of the varsity football team. Joe has received several scholarships honoring his outstanding academic ability.

He will graduate from University of Texas in May and has been accepted for enrollment in University of Texas Law School in September. Wedding plans will be announced at a later date. The program "Purple Pleasure," was presented by Mrs. A.C. Acton. She gave an informative and interesting talk on the legend of the violet and iris. She displayed these flowers in various arrangements in the room.

The Vice President, Mrs. George Beauchamp, presided at the meeting. The resignation of Mrs. Calvin Dons bach as president of the club was accepted with regrets. Mrs.

George Beauchamp will fill the unexplred term. The (treen thumb hints were given by Mrs. Raymond Doersam. The serving table was laid with a white linen cloth and centering the table was the decorative birthday cake and the inscription on the cake read: "Happy Birthday Nogales Garden Club, 24th Anniversary." Annual Flower Show to be held in Austin Garden The wide diversity of interests within the 29 affiliated garden clubs which make up the Austin Area Garden Council and the Zllker Gardens will be featured In the 16th Annual Flower Show to be held In Austin's Zilker Park from April 7 through April 15. Garden gates will open at 1 p.m.

on April 7 and visiting hours from April 8 through 15 will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission Is a $1.00 donation to the Center for adults and children under 12 years will be admitted free when accompanied by adults. The annual fund-raising event to support the Center will begin with the staging of a standard flower show by the Violet Crown Garden Club. Entries in classes for horticulture and artistic arrangements will be judged and ribbons awarded. The VCGC show 1 is open to the public for par- tlclpatton. On Monday, April 9, the Center show will change to a more Informal atmosphere with 20 of the clubs combining their Interests to stage a completely different show to emphasize Individual club specialities such as bromellads African violets, orchids, terrarlums, flower preservation processes, novelty party tables, dish gardens, herbs, bonsai, mini-gardens and mini- movies. The Men's Garden Club will show a wall exhibit of hang- Ing baskets and foliage plants.
