It is readily understandable that your husband should be sorry for his father because of his ailment, but surely he must be sufficiently Intelligent to realize that he Is showing his pity and sympathy in a ery mistaken way. In fact, he is dotog his father far more harm than good, when he makes It possible for him to stay on a continual binge. This situation, I think Is something that you shou. talk over with a person who has hart real practical experience with similar problems, and you will find a great many such people, in the ranks of the organization known as Alcoholics Anonymous. Many people do not realize that this organization Is just as interested to helping the fam- llles of abnormal drinkers, as in helping the drimcers themselves.

There is, In fact, a division of the group which bands together wives, mothers and other relatives of alcoholics In an effort to work out the most useful ways In which the alcohohc, a family can help hhn. There must be a branch of this organization In your vicinity, possibly right In your own town. To find out how to get In touch with the nearest such branch, drop a note to P. O. Box 459, Central Amiex, New York 17, N.

Y. Explain in your letter just what our particular problem is, and I am sure you will have a prOmpt, sympathetic and helpful reply. Dear P. Whenever I hear a story unfortunately I hear great many of am amaze that in these modern times thet should still be so many paren with a mid-Victorian philosophy i life. I think It would be a good Ide for you to go directly to your fan lly doctor and ask him the que; tlons you would like to have at swered.

Also, if you would like send me a stampl S3lf-addresse envelope, I will be glad to sen you a list of books that should helpful to you at this time. (Copyright 1953, King Feature Syndicate! Among the Sick Nancy Petit deMange, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jamel C. Petit deMange, of 728-A E.
