"Peg of Old Drury," new British film, is the story of Peg Woffington's romantic rise from obscurity to fame and tells of her well known love affair with David Garrick.

Great attention was given the creation of an eighteenth century atmosphere. and to the faithful reconstruction of the London of that period. Rife with dramatic incidents, "The Sea Hawk" is a thrilling saga of the seven seas, with Flynn as Geoff ry Thorpe, most feared of the privateers of Queen Elizabeth's dav. In order to swell the treasury of their country and satisfy their own lunt for adventure, Thorpe and other "sea hawks" of the day would sail the seas hunting for enemy ships to loot and plunder. Bette Davis and Charles Boyer in "All This and Heaven, Too," with Barbara O'Neil and Jeffrey Lynn heading the supporting cast will have its showing tonight.

"Meet People Closes Saturday "Doubling in brass" is a common expression in the theater but the versatility of the talented young players in "Meet the People" goes beyond a mere doubling or tripling. In the hit musical revue which originated in Hollywood last Christmas night and is now in its eighth week at the Geary, each member of the cast is definitely recognized as a talented singer, dancer and actor or actress. With but one hour's notice, Norman Lawrence rehearsed three of Jack Boyle's starring scenes and though it literally "ran him ragged" he gave stellar performance in helping out his fellow player. In Tatti's roles Dorothy Roberts and Peggy Ryan stepped in to fill the breach and so another performance of "Meet the People" was successfully completed and San Francisco audiences again commented most favorably on the talent of the young stars who deserted films for the stage. "Meet the People" closes its San Francisco engagement Saturday and heads for Chicago.

Speedy demolition of buildings on Treasure Island alter the Exposition closes was urged by the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce to clear the way for development of the city's new municipal airport. Simultaneously, General Manager W. W. Monohan named H.

C. Bot- torff assistant general manager to direct demolition and liquidation of the company's affairs. TIME ELEMENT VITAL Chairman Edward V. Mills of the chamber's special airport committee, wrote E. G.

Cahill, San Francisco public utilities manager, that the time element involved in demolition work and prompt provision for permanent roadways was of "vital importance to progress of the airport program." He pointed out that Government aid in construction of the municipal airport is anticipated if work is started before February, 1941. Under these circumstances, he said, haste in demolition is essential. It was understood between contractors and the utilities commission that a period of 90 days between October 1 and January 1 will be permitted for preparations by contractors, another six months for actual demolition, and possibly another six-month period if needed.
