MISSIONARY TO TELL ADVENTURE AMONG BANDITS "How I Escaped from Chinese Bandits" will be the subject of a lecture at the Friendly Hand Rescue Mission, 23 Webster Street, Monday night by Miss Ruth Berntsen, returned missionary. Vocal numbers, both in Chinese and English will be presented.

Born in Kwangstl Province in 1910, Miss Berntsen grew up in China and was educated in English schools in Pekin. Her father. Rev. Bernt Berntsen. wits a missionary in China for 29 yean.

After his death in 1025. Miss Berntsen came to the United States and has made her home in Oakland for the past few months. He retires from active ministry effective Janu ary 1, after a pastorate' of almost 22 years. Wallace Buckingham, associate pastor. Failing health, according to church officials, has caused Dr. Phillips to give up the heavy labors of the church. He will go to his childhood home, Jamaica, for three months. On his return he expects to give his energies to the Hour of Prsyer, a dally radio feature emanating from the church.
