ROCHESTER DEMOCRAT AND CHRONICLE Thursday, August 18, 196S 'All for Money 'Outrage' Opens Epic 4B CTZO CHE STER Of Comic Confusion By DON POMATOWSKI Three young moviegoers created a dramatic opening scene Tuesday night in East Rochester. A witness said it began with (Mil mm 1 SAVE ON LUXURIOUS FIELDCREST TOWELS AND BLANKETS "ROYAL VELVET" TOWELS bath towel 299 rep. $4 Street area. Some had armed themselves with knives and clubs. The hunt was beginning.

Meanwhile, back at the trunk, Reardon was having problems. He had locked his friends inside. But the key to the trunk was in his friend's pocket. Comic relief. AS HE BEGAN TEARING away at his back seat, two teen-age boys were caught on Lincoln Road.

They admitted shining a flashlight in the window of a neighbor "as a prank." But Kreyer said they denied involvement in other prowling or window peeping incidents. They were released to their parents. Kreyer said East Rochester residents have been "jumpy" since a prowler walked into a young woman's home Aug. 7 about 2:30 a.m. He grabbed the woman while she slept, but was frightened off by her screams.

At 1 a.m., Kreyer and Sgt. Richard Stenglein still were working on the abduction. Reardon had managed to retrieve the trunk key, and had made it safely past the ticket taker at the Washington Drive-In. About 10 a.m. yesterday, he had become aware of the abduction tale and came to Rochester police to tell his story.

While residents were seething, he said, he and his smuggled friends were watch a scream and a woman's being forced into the trunk of a car. It was followed by reports of prowlers, and continued with armed and outraged residents joining the cast. The drama heightened when police and sheriff's deputies fanned out to begin the big hunt. A quick capture ended part of the epic but did not solve the mystery of the reported abduction. IT WAS A LONG SCENA-rio.

The clincher did not come until late yesterday morning. It was an amusing confession scene. William Reardon, 18, of 64 Sanford told police he was attempting to save the price of two drive-in movie tickets about 10 p.m. Tuesday. He said he stuffed a young soldier and his girl friend into the trunk at the corner of Lincoln Mills Road and Linden Avenue.

Mrs. Bonnie Scribner of 35 Parker Fairport, and her daughter watched. They said the girl screamed and they could see her feet kicking. They reported it to East Rochester Police Chief Vincent Kreyer as an abduction. AS HE PREPARED TO launch a search, calls began pouring into his office.

"In 30 minutes, between 10:30 and 11 p.m., we had 21 complaints, several of them about prowlers," he said. The complaints came from residents of the Lincoln Road Forrest Hills-Madison .1.69 69c .5.37 ..79 .5.99 .4.39 hand towel, reg. $2 face cloth, reg. 80c 3-piece set, reg. 6.80 fingertip, reg.
