Thursday in St. Charles Catholic Church. Mr. Black died Friday at his residence. Born Jan.

8,1947, in Memphis, he was the son of Roger L. and Joanna Bulach Black. Mr. Black was a construction worker and a member of St. Charles Catholic Church.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Joanna and Donald Grubbs, Peru; one brother, Blair Grubbs, Van Nuys, and three sisters, Constance M. Hoverman, VanWert, Ohio, Penny J. Wise, Peru, and Teresa L.

Lekoff, Visalia, Calif. One brother preceded in death. Burial, with military rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to St.

Vincent dePaul Society. Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. OCT. 28,1994 Treva D. Brown MARION Services for Treva D.

Brown, 56, of 980 South 400 West, Marion, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Needham-Storey North Chapel, 1341 N.Baldwin Ave. Mrs. Brown died at 10:14 a.m. Sunday in St.

Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. Born Aug. 13,1938, in Marion, she was the daughter of Walter and Loretta Shepard Scott. She was married to Jonas R. "J.R." Brown, who survives.

Mrs. Brown, who had worked for Haags and Peoples drug stores for 21 years, managed Peoples Drugs on the northside of Marion. She also had worked for Neal's Insurance Company. Also surviving are one daughter, Norma Jean Herring, Marion; two sons, Jon "Brad" and Richard K. "Dick" Herring, both of Marion; two stepdaughters, Amy M.

McVay, and Arica J. Brown, both of Marion; two brothers, Charles Scott, Hickoiy, N.C., and Earl Scott, Jackson, four sisters, Barbara Elsie, Fort Wayne, Mary Ann Johnson, Raleigh, N.C., Myrna McAtee, Marion, and Arietta Osbome, Mesquite, Texas; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Officiating at the services will be the Rev. Terry Bishir. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral chapel. OCT. 30,1994 NEW ALBANY Services for John Hubler, 81, New Albany, will be held at noon Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Mr. Hubler died Sunday at his residence. He was married to Margaret Koch, who survives. A native of New Albany, Mr. Hubler, was a retired crane operator from Jeff.

Boat in Jeffersonville. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Also surviving are two sons, the Rev. Tony, Indianapolis, and Robert, Logansport; one daughter, Sister Ann, Rome, Italy; two brothers, Adolph Georgetown, and Victor, Palmyra; four sisters, Mary Lambden, Orlando, Rita Hubler, Louisville, and Catherine Hubler and Clara Hock, both of New Albany; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E.

Monday in Logansport Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Vitello had resided at Miller's Merry Manor. Born Jan. 10, 1910, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Frederick C.

and Mary A. Koenig Schmidt. In 1935, she was married to Calvin Van Dorn, who died in 1954. In 1958, she was married to John Bower, who died in 1967. In 1968, she was married to Anthony Vitello, who died in 1986.

Mrs. Vitello was a secretary at Palumbo Distributing Company. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, where she had taught Sunday school 12 years. Surviving are three stepsons, Jack Bower, Naples, Robert Bower, Logansport, and Angelo Vitello, Marion; two- stepdaughters, Marilyn Foust, Logansport, and Angeline Schroeder, Indianapolis.

Two half sisters preceded in death. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Kroeger Funeral Home, with Pastor A. David Sailer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church. OCT.

31,1994 Isham 98 of 701 Main St died at 6:50 a.mV Monday in Miller's Merry Manor. Born Dec. 30, 1895, in Peru, she was the daughter of Homer and EInora Boone Jenkins. On May 16, 1919, she was married to Clyde D. Isham who' died Aug.

1,1958. Mrs. Isham was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian' Church. Also surviving are one daughter, Frances Carlson, Murfreesboro and one sister, Hazel Whitcomb, Springfield, Mo. Five sisters and one brother preceded in death.

Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, with Pastor Rande Wayne Smith. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru. Friends may call one hour before services Wednesday in the funeral home OCT. 31,1994 Mary Louise Rhinetiart Leo O.

Long PERU Former Rochester resident Leo 0, Long, 91, of 511 W. Seventh died at 7:30 a.m. Monday in Miller's Merry Manor. Born Dec. 4, 1902, in Fulton County, he was the son of John and Helen Coon Long.

On May 11, 1929, he was married in Kankakee, 111., to Zulah Barkman, who died March 31,1963. Mr. Long retired in 1968 from Schwartz Ford, where he had worked as an accountant. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Peru-Miami Lodge No. 67, Surviving are one daughter, Elizabeth Cavanaugh, Peru; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece.

Private graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at IOOF Cemetery, Rochester, with the Rev. Ronald L. Kerr officiating. There will be no visitation.

Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. OCT. 31,1994 Walter Jordan ROCHESTER Former Talma resident Walter Jordan, 81, Rochester Health Care Center, died at 8:19 p.m. Monday in Woodlawn Hospital. Arrangements are pending at Foster Good Funeral Home.

FRANCESVILLE Mary Louise Rhinehart, 93, of 637 Terrace Drive, Winamac, died at 5:07 a.m. Monday in Francesville at the home of her brother. Born July 12, 1901, in Urbana, she was the daughter of Ruben S. and Kathryn Kratzer Speicher. On Oct.

21,1925, she was married in Winamac to- Ray M. Rhinehart, who died Feb. 20,1975. Mrs. Rhinehart was a beautician.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Winamac and a 50-year member of Order of Eastern- Star, Chapter 310, Surviving are two brothers, Charles Speicher, Francesville, and John Speicher, Medaryville. One brother and one sister preceded in death. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Querry-UIbricht Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Mathys officiating.

They said they had machine pistols and a grenade and would blow up themselves and their hostages unless police kept back. The wife of one injured hostage pleaded with police by telephone to keep their distance. One outlaw, Raymond Albeit, is a 32-year-old former member of an elite unit of the East German army who! was serving a life term for murder. He' had strangled a tavern owner and cut the man's head off with a machete. Albert's partner, Gerhard Polak, 35, is Swiss and had been convicted of extortion.

The chase began before dawn Monday near Stuttgart in southern Germany. The two fugitives, who had' broken out of prison three weeks ago, kidnapped two Stuttgart police officers who approached the minivan in which they were sleeping. Police Reports Sunday 9:30 a.m. Criminal mischief. Matt T.

A parked vehicle owned by Walters Precision Collision Repair, 1731 U.S. 24 West, was struck by an unidentified vehicle. Logansport Police Department investigated. 7:50 a.m. Criminal mischief.

Diana P. Guillen, Rt. 6, Logansport, reported that someone broke the left mirror on her car while it was parked in front of 1625 High St. Damage was estimated at $250. LPD.

8:21 a.m. Theft from yard. Clara D. McMillen, 78-16th reported that someone took a lawn jockey valued at $200 from her front yard. LPD.

9:19 a.m. Harassment. Cindy L. Grantham, 1321 Chicago reported that someone has been harassing her at her home. LPD.

10:42 a.m. Criminal mischief. Julie J. Richards, 322 E. Main reported that someone broke the radio antenna off her vehicle while it was parked at St.

LPD. 12:58 p.m. Damage to fence. An employee of Exide Corporation, 303 Water reported that someone drove into the company's fence, knock- ing over four posts and damaging the top rail and about 20 feet of fence. Damage was estimated between $200 and $300.

LPD. ijjr Pefsonal-jnjury accident, W. Melbourne Avenue and Seybold Street. Vehicles driven by Tony L. Cornelison, 27, Spencer, and Jefferson A.

Daughterly, 27, 1308 W. Melbourne collided. Cornelison complained of leg pain. LPD. 1:55 p.m.

Theft. An employee of Four Star Video, 525 S. Third reported that three customers had failed to return nine videos valued at $459.82. LPD. 2:50 p.m.

Vehicle theft. Terry L. Baker, 908 Wheatland reported that the white 1974 Chevy Nova he lets his son drive was taken from the southeast corner of 12th and High streets between 9:55 p.m. Sunday and 2:15 p.m. Monday.

His son told police the vehicle was locked when he parked it and he still has the car keys. LPD 3 p.m. Arrest. Joetta S. Snow, 20, 604-12th was arrested on an in-county warrant for failure to appear.

LPD. 3:01 p.m. Criminal mischief. Joan Cogswell, 525 Helm reported that someone soaped her car's hood and scratched a in the paint. LPD.

3:25 p.m. Criminal mischief. Stacey L. Kesler, 2205 Usher reported that someone apparently attempted to hotwire her vehicle while it was parked in the Logansport High School parking lot, 1 Berry Lane. LPD.

3:45 p.m. Property-damage accident, High Street, west of W. Roselawn George and Susan K. Ogsbury, 49, 1025 Manor- wood Drjye, LPD. 4:10 p.m.

Criminal mischief. Jason M. Key, Rt. 3, Logansport, reported that someone scuffed the right side of his motorcycle while it was parked in front of his garage. CCPD.

5:49 p.m. Personal-injury accident, Third Street, north of Market Street. Vehicles driven by Geraldine E. Johnson, 67, 820 Kloenne and James L. Brugh, 51, 306 E.

Colfax collided. A passenger in Brugh's vehicle, Susan R. Brugh, 47, 306 E. Colfax complained of neck pain. LPD.

5:54 p.m. Property-damage accident, E. Broadway, north of Third St. Vehicles driven by Jason Dunderman, 17, 824 Kloenne and Teresa S. Wescott, 32, 609 Tanguy collided.

LPD. 6:05 p.m. Arrest. Gregory A. Fisher, 34,800 Bates was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

6:15 p.m. Property-damage accident, Cass County Road 1050S, west of 1000E. A vehicle driven by Carol L. Shoaff, 46, Rt. 1, Galveston, struck a deer.

606 S. Cicott St. A board under a hot water heater in the home of Barb Shuck ignited, spreading to the floor around the heater. The board, placed there to level the heater, ignited because it was too close to the heat, Assistant Chief Ron Holcomb said.
