Oct. 12. With veritable gala whistling aprons the gridiron dnring the ei.tlre play, Rochester TJnl-veraity played Hamilton to a 9 to 6 tli! on Steuben Field thla afternoon. The game started off with the weather dubfawa, and -when the final whistle blew the playing field waa in darkne.

It took Rochester almost the entire first quarteT to become accustomed to the sllpery smooth -sodded gridiron, hut near the dose of the period the visiting eleven, "aided by several well-executed passes and a swell run of thirty, yards by Captain Jack Forsyth through the entire Clinton team, pushed ChoabTo over for a touchdown. The second and third period provided snrao of Uie most dashing football seen on Steuben field tn years. Several time; Hamilton worked the ball dangerously neiir to the Bodester roal line, only to he held for downs by the visitor. And 'Rochester came mighty near crossing the Ilsnillton lino during these periods. In one Instance the bard-flgliting Uochestor leader got wav for a run of forty yard and for a time It looked Ilk a dash for another touchdown, bnt he was Anally brought down bnt a fe yarda from the line.

The fourth quarter was played In semt-ilarkneesfl and with a large crowd of Hamilton rooters yelling their utmost to urge on their team, the Clinton eleven gradually worked up to Rochester' 10-yard line. There the Rochester defense again stiffened and the Yellow held for downs Hindered by tho strong wind, Storey waj unable to kick to safety, and three more Hamilton line plunges took the ali oVr the line, trying the score. Hamilton's surprisingly line showing can In part be accounted for by the feat that the Butt and Blue teem outweighed the visitors newly ten pounds to a man. The home team nun had the advantage of playing on Its home Held, and that was certainly great advantage aa It took Koohrarter the beet part of the first period to beoome uncd to the Held.
