Morris June the special election in the village hall this afternoon and evening 210 votes were cast. The first proposition, to purchase the Mills waterworks system for $50,000 and pend $25,000 to repair and extend the system, was defeated by the decisive vote of 170 to 20, The second proposition, to give the Board of Trustees power to purchase or install a system in aecord with the plans drawn by Engineer Witmer, at a cost not to exceed $16,000, was carried by a vote of 165 to 18. Within the next few days the trustees will advertise for bids for the construetion of a new waterworks system, as the large vote for the second proposition and the defeating of the first proposition shows conclusively that the people of the village do not care to purchase the present plant. The trustees, some of them say, had the second proposition worded to the effac that they should have the power to purchase the present waterworks in ease the owners of the plant would sell.it at a low enough price so that the necessary improvements could be made and vet Man Pitched from His Son Carried John Ferguson, of Clyde, tion by Trolley Lyens, June Ferguson, of Clyde, was picked up by all S. E. Travis.

Kiley was also wanted for threatening a woman with a cane. The man said at police headquarters that he was lonesome and wanted to gO back to jail. He said that he had asked to be arrested earlier in day, and was told to move on. SUICIDE ATTEMPTED BY PULTENEY YOUTH George Boyd Found in An Unconscious Condition. Hammondsport, June 25.

-George Boyd was found last night in a semiconscious condition, the result, it is said, of having tried to commit suicide by cutting his left wrist. He is a resident of Pulteney and 18 years old. He was found the night before sitting on the lake shore near his home by his father, who tried to persuade him to come into the house, but without avail. When the youth returned to the house, having been on the lake all night, he went to his room, where he was found at dinner time, having then bled about a quart of blood from the wound inflicted. His condition is critical, but he is expected to survive.

Young Boyd has had a fine education, having been through high school and entered college, and no reason for this rash act is known. Mrs. Alona Phelps. The contract of the village with the company to furnish water for village purposes expires October 1, 1009, consequently the time is short for such a system to be perfected. The water for the new system will be obtained from wells to be driven oft the Swan farm, on North street, and will be pumped to a new reservoir to be constructed on Upper Murray street, high enough to afford water privileges to all residents of the corporation and giving better protection in case of fire. It will also include about thirty more hydrants than are in use at the present time and several miles more of mains. The price of the water for domestic purposes will about 20 per cent. BALD EAGLES IN FIERCE COMBAT Unusual Sight Witnessed Near Canandaigua Lake.

Rushville, June rather unusual combat took place the other day near Canandaigua lake, just over the vineyards owned by John Swann, at the of Bare hill, between two male bald eagles. The two aerial combatants circle around each other as if would watching for at opening, and when such presented itself they would with a movement too rapid to be followed by the eye colle together and tear each other with beak and talon. While these birds are becoming so rare as to be protected by law, it is not an unusual sight in this vicinity to see a pair of them soaring in the air along the lake bluff north of Seeley's Grove. With head and tail 80 white 'as to glisten in the sun they present a striking appearance, Some of the older inhabitants claim that each year these royal birds build their nests and raise their young in this neighborhood. However, no one has been able to locate such a nest.
