He gave it to newcomers in the county Republican organizations annual New Year's reception line before yesterday's 2-hour and 10-minute round of hearty handclasps began.

"Why, the first time I was in the line, I had to go back and soak my hand in epsom salts," said Parish. Letting the greeter get the jump on the greeted, Parrish explained, usually means the fingers of the man on the reception are painfully crossed over each other. After a few thousands of these handshakes come bruises and swellParrish, said fine his after the outstretched last of some 4,000 at the reception passed him. Personnel Lack Threat to Industry Continued from Page 19 In 1940, employment in durable goods industries up 63 per cent of the manufacturing work force, as compared with 73 per cent in 1955.

Brother and Sister Reunited After 43-Year Separation The new year means a new life for Mrs. Paul Pavone and her brother, Christopher Schiliro, for the two were reunited the past weekend after a 43-year separation.

Christopher was only 4 years old when his sister, with the mother and father, left Italy for the United States. The parents didn't stay here long, but their daughter remained in Rochester and was married. The Pavones now live at 44 Spiegel In the intervening years Mrs. Pavone worked hard to get some of her family to join her but it wasn't until last Saturday that she got results. On that day Christopher arrived in New York City by boat from Valguanera, Italy.

With him were his wife; a son, Nuncio, 18; a daughter, Ida, 9, and a second son, Peter, A daughter, Santa, 21, is still in Italy but is expected soon. The newcomers will live at the Pavone home while they adjust themselves to their new country. First comes a job for Christopher, a farmer, and Nuncio, who' has been learning the masonry trade. Night school courses also are planned at once by the parents and eldest son. Still in Italy are a sister, who is a nun, and a brother, Gioeami.

They have no plans for leaving, but a daughter of the brother is expected in Rochester within a few months. Since their arrival newcomers have been seeing the city. In the next day or so they will be shown the wonders of the downtown stores, including National Clothing Co. where Mrs. Pavone has been employed for 27 years.
