ENTERTAINMENT NEWS 5D Dear Readers: Here are some Heloise hints from 2008. These suggestions are just as good today as they were then. Enjoy! Dear Heloise: Chores were always a sore point at our house. The kids complained about doing them all week long. So I came up with this idea.

I bought some craft sticks (they look like the wooden sticks from frozen treats). I painted them, and when they were dry, I labeled them with chores that need to be done daily, like empty and load the dish washer, feed pets, take trash out, etc. Now when everyone is home, I pop the sticks into a pretty canister, and we all take turns drawing the stick chores. To make it more interesting, I included a couple of blank sticks. Anyone who picks a blank stick gets a chore reprieve! This works really well.
