LITTLE PROSPECT OF TELEPHONE WAR Meeting Held at port, Merits of Another Exchange Presented, Spencerport, March premonItory movements of a telephone war have been taking place here, present prospects are that the matter will fizzle out after all. The Interocean Telephone Comdesirous, it would seem. of enterpany is into competition in this vicinity with ing the Bell Telephone Company. The Bell exchange was put in at Spencerport sevtral years and has since that time peen under the management of T.

C. The Bell systema has been expanding quite rapidly. A meeting was called for 1 o'clock yesjerday afternoon to enable the citizens of the village to hear the propositions adranced by the Interocean representatives concerning the installation of an exchange There was a large attendance at meeting which was held in Golf's Hall. John Guyle, of Penn Yon, and Mr. Waite, bE Buttalo, represented the Interocean people.

After describing in general their restem they brought forward a specific plan, which was as follows: To secure the formation of a joint stock company, each share to be $50, for the purpose of putting in an Interocean exchange here. Ill endeavor was made to get the sig satures to this proposition. The subject was discussed at some length, but the neeting broke up without any signers be0g secured. Judging from the prevalent sentiment On. The Baylight Store.

MrOurdu Norwell On. Not a hundredth tisements. As the single sample, so the Here's Few Men Can Afford to Go Shabby The shrewdest observers in all ages agree that in establishing a reputation dress is an important factor. Russell Sage, it is true, might go shabbily dressed without detriment to his credit. But the average man cannot.

Once heard a man say he'd rather go about with a rip in his coat than with a patch, on the principle that a rip looked like an accident, while the patch showed premeditated poverty. In any event, there's no more excuse for shabbiness than for rips or patches, when new and stylish fixings may thus be purchased: Men's Night Robes, 35c Men's plain white and fancy trimmnd night robes, 35c each or 3 for $1.00. So, it seems, does our jewelry man's. At least, he's always gathering and scattering "plums." His latest coup is the corraling of a surplus stock of hat pins from a manufacturer who wished to make a clean sweep of Spring lines before switching to Fall productions. That's how we came into possession of over 1,500 hat pins that we can pass on to you at from one-half to one-third retail values.

They are of German silver in antique rose gold finish, identical in every respect with lines that we have been selling at 25c and 35c, but now to be offered at 10c. Mark you, these are 8-inch pins--the popular length--and being hard burnished will not bend. Nor are the heads liable to come off, as is the case with cheap productions.
