Nowhere In the rules Is any such style of eccentric play called for. With three and a half yards to gain, the local punters went at the Geneva line hammer and tongs.

But Geneva had the ball and to bold its line within three and a half yards of its own goal for any great length of time was no small undertaking for the local punters. The ball was snapped and when the rush was attempted it was la the possession of Rose. Try as he would, the Rochester boys surged around him on all sides and "the man in the leather mask" was forced back and down In the rear of the Geneva goal. It looked like a safety, but the claim was made that Rose had called down before he had been pushed back of the line, and It was upheld. And everybody who saw the game couldn't help but be Joyous over the result except the corporal's guard of Genevans. It really brought to view the fact that the Rochester High School has an eleven which is an aggregation of which any Bchovl might well be proud.

Geneva won the toss and selected the north goal. Corris kicked off for Rochester. The ball went to the Genevans' twenty-five-yard line and was returned eight yards. The ball was secured to Glen's boys on downs. Law-ton gained five yards and O'Connor that much and thirteen more by a clever run around left end.

Gouverneur Morris Murphy, Rochester's quarterback, was the particular bright interfering star In this play. This brought the ball dangerously near Geneva's goal. The visitors were cognizant thereof aud fought desperately to stave off aa Impending reverse. It was about like every other Genevan effort unsuccessful. Dunn was pushed over the line for a touchdown In Just three and three-fourths minutes of play.

From that time Geneva's doom dated. The fceuvy Rochester line had tested Its strength and the test was most satisfactory. Confidence reigned In the stands "What a cinch," thought the l.M-al punters anil visions of victory vanished from Geneva's sight. The play became fa-it aud furious with Rochester holding the fast end of the programme ami Geneva the furious end for Its opponents' success in so doiug. Lawton failed to kick goal and the ball went to Geneva.

Following the kick, Corris and Ashman made live yard gains. The former's was a bit spectacular, being a hurdle dash through the center, luinn. and O'Connor UiaJe ten and five yards, respectively, around either md. Another gain by lunn and the ball was los: on downs. When Rochester gain got the ball, Curtis tok it fifteen yards round right end.

It looked like an opportunity for a ck-aa sprint, but the last man to come wltbia hailing distance of Curtis proved his undoing.
