M. C. A. is to be canceled as Banks will show his wares in Syracuse to-morrow night in an engagement which he could not postpone or cancel. Banks has just completed a threemonths' tour of the Pacific states pinging exhibition matches, and is now in the start of a trip through New England, taking him to most of the large cities of that seetian for daily matchers.

He will play O'Grady, city champion, over one of the boards at checkers to-night and may also play one or two exibition with the city title-holder before or after the simultaneous play. The chance to play against the champion and to watch him play is expected to bring out a large crowd of members of the club and followers of the game for this match. LOCAL FANS WILL SEE COURT SERIES Central Board of Strategy to Leave for Cleveland. Rochester will be well represented at the opening games of the basketball "world series' between Brooklyn and Cleveland at Cleveland, Wednesday and Thursday nights of this week. who comprise the Central Board of Strategy, being scheduled to leave for the Ohio city to-night in order to be on hand for the game tomorrow. A number other local first, fans will also make the trip by automobile. Brooklyn, after takin a 25-to-24 beating from the Centrals Saturday night, remained over in Rochester until this morning when they will leave over the New York Central for Cleveland. The metropolitan team worked out with the Centrals at the Rochester Athletic Club Sunday afternoon and at the Armory last night. The local champions had their regular lineup on last night and the two teams went at it hammer and tongs two hours on the 'Big Expect 15,000 Crowd.

Garry Schmeelk was well pleased with the way his team went in the workouts here and is confident of bagging at least 011e of the games in Cleveland. After Thursday's game the two quints will jump to Brooklyn where the remaining frays will be played in the 14th Armory. CleveTland has installed a favorite and figures the first two games been, without any trouble. A new record for basketball attendance at a pro game will probably be set when the teams clash in the Publice Auditorium to-morrow night. Cleveland is easily the best drawing town for the professional style of game, and with a championship at stake all records for attendance are expected to be shattered.

Crowds of 10,000 are common there and Max Rosenbuml, who manages the secondhalf champions, has made arrangements to seat 15,000 people. The Centrals put away their uniforms after last night's practice session and will forget basketball until another season rolls around. The final game of the local season is listed for Saturday night when the Original Celtics will make their appearance on the Kodak Office court against the Office quintet. Baseball Notes.
