Miller, the former being in opposition to the proposed Improvement and Mr. Miller in favor of It.

Aid. Hart said the city attorney had been requested to inquire into the law regarding the narrowing of a street and he had declared that It not legally be done. Tbe city attorney being present waa called opon and substantiated this statement, saying that the law would not admit of such an improvement, where it became necessary to narrow the roadway. Aid. Kelly moved that the resolution be laid on the table for one week.

Adopted. Tbe ordinance to construct a stone sewer in Strong street was adopted. The one relating to the North Goodman street improvement was laid on the table for two weeks, and that for the widening of North Water street, indefinitely postponed. The ordinance for a line of curbstones on each side of Spencer street, and stone sewer on Clifford street, from the center of Hudson street to the center of Conkey avenue also from center of Clif-for street to center of Avenue were adopted. That for the improvement of Tracy Park was laid on the table.

The finance budget was it ad and adopted. On motion of Aid. Aikenhead, Louis H. Miller was appointed as inspector of election for the first district of tbe fourteenth ward. A communication from the Rochester City and Brighton street railroad company, asking for permission to lay a track on University avenue, from East Main street to Goodman street, was referred to the street committee.
