PRINTERS' WAREHOUSE! the Methodist Preachers' association of Rochester and vicinity, on Monday, Febru ary 1st. on 4 'Spiritual Law in the Natural World, in the First church, Rochester. One of the most pleasant gatherings that has beea head at Springwater for some time was the golden wedding of Mr.

and Mrs. oamuel A. Howe, on Tuesday evening. Invited guests to the number of about seventy were ia attendance. Some very fine and costly presents were received.

Mr. Howe was born at Boston, in 1807; Mrs. Howe at Middlebury, Vt. in 1816. They were married in Vermont, January at.

1636, and started after a few days for ton via New York city on runner. They had a long and tedious time of it on account of the unusual depth of the snow that winter. Mr. and Mrs. Howe moved to Springwater in November, 1838, where they have since resided, being numbered among Spring- water's oldest and most respected citizens.

The town of Livonia has been for sev eral weeks in a state of painful anxiety and suspense over the misfortune and condition of its supervisor ex-Sheriff Martin F. Lins- ley. While in his usual heelth, the first week in December, he received a slight kick from a colt, on his leg, near the knee. Nothing was thought of it at the time, but in two or three days severe pain and some infiamation attacked the knee joint. It was thought to be the result of a cold, although so abrupt and persistent as to confine him to his room.

His physician, Dr. Richmond, was called, but the usual remedies failed and his skill was baffled from the start. For weeks the pain was constant and excrutiating. A plaster of paris envelope was applied to the limb, and Dr. E.

W. Moore, of Rochester, was called in consultation. No relief was received from any source, the patient slowly but surely declining from day to day. At length the pain left by degrees, but the leg grew worse. The swelling was opened, fobowed by a constant and rapidly depleting discharge.

For several days it has been the opinion of the doctors that the only hope lay in amputation. This dire extremity was resorted to on Tuesday. Dr. Richmond performed the operation. The following physicians were present rendering all necessary assistance Doctors Sheldon and Patterson, of Livonia Bennett and Waldron, of Lima Wilbur and Greene, of Honeoye Lauderdale, of Geneseo, and McGowan, of Conesua.

The patient is reasonably comfortable to-day, bat the gravest fears are entertained of the result. The knee joint was found to be badly diseased. The case has aroused great professional interest and the entire community is intensely anxious and sympathetic, hoping for the best but fearful. Few men ia Livingston county have been as active, as robust, or have enjoyed as large a host of friends as Mr. Lins-ley.
