pcsarftg P.S., TV Listings, D8 SECTION THURSDAY, AUGUST 19, 1982 The Post Strikers Beat Rowdies Clinch Division Title Cosmos Beat Tulsa, D7 By Jon Marmor StaH WrHor FORT LAUDERDALE Not a drop of champagne was anywhere to be found inside the Fort Lauderdale Strikers' dressing room last night after the Strikers wrapped up the Southern Division title with a 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rowdies. "Beer will have to do," said midfielder Thomas Ron-gen. "After all, this is more relief than celebration." Maybe so, but there was plenty of celebrating done by the 11,426 fans in Lockhart Stadium when Brian Kidd headed in his 15th goal of the season off a cross by Branko Segota at 84:04 to give the Strikers their first division title since 1977. The Strikers received a standing ovation after the game and General Manager Tim Robbie was down on the field to shake hands with his players as they headed for the dressing room. But the Striker victory was not the only cause for celebration.

Just before the game ended, word came that the Tulsa Roughnecks had lost 3-1 to the Cosmos. Tulsa came into last night just five points behind the Strikers and its hopes for a Southern Division title still flickering. "It's been a long season," said Kidd, who also played a big role in the Strikers' tying goal scored by sweeper Edi Kirschner at 80:46. "At least we got it won anyway." It was an uncharacteristic game for the Strikers, considering the way they have been playing of late. Playing with a jumbled lineup because of injuries to five starters, the Strikers only made one defensive lapse, which allowed Tampa Bay to take a 1-0 lead in the second half.

The Strikers had plenty of chances to win the game, since the Rowdies played shorthanded for the last 24 minutes after Refik Kozic was tossed out for getting a red card after a vicious tackle on Segota. "We were nervous out there and instead of using the field and being smart, we were tight and we tried to ram it down their throats," said coach Eckhard Krautzun. "The players knew it was a must-win situation and we just needed to relax." Although the win put something of a halt to a slump which has seen the Strikers lose seven of their last 10, including three in a row at home, not everyone was ready to say the Strikers were totally recovered. "Tonight we showed the willpower to come and win and you have to be happy about it," said goalkeeper Jan van Beveren, "but we have to do more. We have to play better if we want to go anywhere in the playoffs.

Then we can have some champagne." The Strikers looked tight in the early going, having difficulty established a passing game, but their defense did a good job holding Tampa Bay at bay. The Rowdies, 12-19, who will not make the playoffs for the first time in their history, were pushing the Strikers very hard and weren't about to let their state rivals walk away with the division title. Luis Fernando, who doesn't miss many chances, missed a great one when he stole the ball from Bruce Savage, walked in all alone on van Beveren and managed to hit both goalposts with a richocheting shot with seven minutes left in the first half. The Strikers suddenly came to, and goalkeeper Jurgen Stars robbed Kirschner and then defender Peter Roe knocked away a shot by Kidd headed for an open net. Takes Time To Sweep Chicago Morris Arrested For Cocaine 3T" CHICAGO (AP) Pedro Guerrero hit a pair of two-run homers and doubled home a fifth run yesterday to power the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 7-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs and a sweep of two games.

Earlier, the two teams completed a game suspended Tuesday after 17 innings tied at 1-1 when Steve Sax scored on Dusty Baker's sacrifice fly in the 21st inning to give the Dodgers a 2-1 triumph. The 6-hour, 10-minute was the longest game in the major leagues this season. 1 With the victories, the Dodgers opened up 3 "4 -game lead in the National League Western Division over Atlanta Braves and by 4 over the San Diego Padres. Reuss then allowed four hits, walked none and struck out one in five innings of the second game. Baker said the first game was "like playing in the twilight zone I've fiever played in a game like that." I "It was like a Pony League game out there," said Dodger Rick Monday. got a little 'rah rah' out there, the things we used to say when 'we were kids, like 'hey batter and 'pitcher's got a rubber It got a little emotional for all of us, I think." Sax doubled after one out in the 21st and moved to third on a wild pitch by loser Al Ripley, 4-6, the sixth Chicago pitcher. Ken Landreaux walked and Baker hit a fly to right. Sax tagged up and Moreland's throw to the plate was high and Sax slid in just ahead of the tag.

Umpire Eric Gregg first raised his right hand for an instant, appearing to make an out call, but then threw his arms straight out, signaling safe. "It was tough to lose it on a very questionable call on the play at the plate," said Cub manager Lee Elia. The 21 innings surpassed a 20-in-ning contest that lasted 6 hours, 6 minutes on April 13 when the California Angels defeated the Seattle Mariners 4-3. Besides the longevity factor, the game had several highlights. Five people were ejected: Lee Elia, for strenuous and colorful argument following another controversial call in the eighth inning when Larry Bowa was called out; Dodger third baseman Ron Cey, after being picked off first base in the 20th inning, and Dodger manager Tommy Lasorda, a few moments later; Cub coach John Vukovich, who was running the team in Elia's absence, for arguing the 21st-inning play at the plate, and Cub Jay Johnstone, for the same reason.

It was also the longest game in Los Angeles Dodger history. The Dodgers had played two 19-inning games since moving to L.A. Officers who raided a home they said was either owned or rented by Morris "seized a large quantity of cocaine, three vehicles, a large sum of money and assorted firearms," said George R. Havens, chief of criminal investigations for the Dade County State Attorney's office.

Havens said the raid on the home, in a quiet, upper-middle class neighborhood, stemmed from "an extensive investigation," but declined to elaborate. Morris, 35, was charged with one count of cocaine trafficking which carries a sentence of 15 years in prison and $250,000 fine with conviction three counts of cocaine delivery, three counts of cocaine possession, one count of conspiracy to traffic cocaine and one count of marijuana possession, said George Yoss, chief assistant to the state attorney. Yoss said Morris would be booked into the Dade County Jail overnight and receive a bond hearing today. Authorities said a pistol, carbine, a shotgun and a rifle were seized during the raid, but indicated that the suspects didn't resist.
