Martinez head the cast of NBC-TV's a new series dramatizing the struggles and adventures of an American Plains Indian family and tribe before and during their first encounter with white men.

The series of four one-hour dramas is being filmed in Arizona for presentation on NBC-TV later this year. All continuing characters are played by Indians. "This is the story of another of America's roots an accurate portrayal of the Plains Indians at the height of their culture, sometime around 1803," said Richard Lindheim, an NBC-TV program executive. Rose Portillo co-stars as Painted Bear's daughter, Starfire, with A. Martinez as the warrior Low Wolf.

Linda Redfearn appears as Painted Bear's wife. Other regulars include Emilio Delgado as White Bull, Guillermo San Juan as Two Hawks and Dehl Berti as One Feather.
