In November, Feuer was installed as the first police surgeon for the Florida Highway Patrol. "I've been interested in law enforcement since my undergraduate days," he said. In 2001, he was appointed the police surgeon for the city of Surfside (north of Miami). Feuer got his police training through the Highway Patrol, which led to his recent appointment there. He works with FHP Troop Commander Maj. Mike Guzman. Feuer, a Wellington resident, offers his services through the FHP Auxiliary network.

He serves as a member of the SWAT team and as a resource to troopers injured on the job. He also trains troopers in the area of first responders in bioterror-ism matters. He's also a partner with the law firm of Brennan, Manna Diamond, specializing in health law. Raised in Roslyn, on Long Island, Feuer likes to joke about how when his Jewish mother talked about her son becoming a doctor or lawyer, he "didn't realize there was a choice."
