THE PALM BEACH POST TUESDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2003 Man in money laundering plot feared for his life, jurors told Stuart, acted as a point person. He took the money from the man posing as the drug dealer and deposited it in accounts held by Munro's travel company, according to opening statements Monday morning. kellywolfepbpost.com By KELLY WOLFE Palm Beach Post Staff Writer FORT PIERCE Two men accused of laundering what they believed was heroin money through a New Hampshire-based travel firm went on trial Monday in federal court. Michael D. Munro, 43, of Weare, N.H., was indicted on four counts of money laundering conspiracy in August, while Kenneth E.

Morrison of 208 Clematis West Palm Beach was indicted on two counts of money laundering conspiracy. They face 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted. The men are accused of laundering $424,900 through Munro's travel company for a man who claimed to be involved in a heroin ring but was really an undercover agent. During opening statements, Munro's attorney said Jay Stoelting, one of Munro's employees, became entangled in the scheme without Munro's knowledge. When Munro realized what Stoelting was up to, he feared for his life, said defense attorney Christopher H.M.

Carter, of Concord, N.H. Munro felt that he had no choice but to go along with the plan, Carter told jurors. Stoelting, 44, pleaded guilty to one count of money laundering conspiracy Dec. 1. He is expected to be sentenced next month.
